At the end of the work day...

As I walk from the office to the parking lot...

Did she just smile at me? I know I just smiled at her

I am sure she was smiling! As I start the Z and begin driving home a casual glance at the DIC reveals why.

She knows it will soon be track time

Thanks for sharing Gary! I know as we look for/towards 1500 miles, it is like being a teenager and getting our first drivers license. You feel free to explore with hope and excitement!

As I see the 1500 miles (not there yet)... I am thinking about:

1. Changing all fluids in Trans/Differential/Motor. Not Radiator.
2. The fact that there is ONLY 66 more 1500 mile periods before that warranty expires! LOL....

Keep us posted on how it feels from 4000 to 6000 rpms ok?

Are you removing the trunk fuse #F8 (exhaust flap)?

Changing the oil and filter, rear diff fluid this week.

The next 66 1500 mile increments will go very fast indeed

I will comment on the 4000 to 6000 rpm experience, soon.

No fuse pull for now. May go the mild to wild route in the near future.

I'm just curious as to whether the Corvette ZR1 with its handbuilt engine, built in America, requires a similar "engine" break-in period. I completely understand the need to "burnish" the brakes on any car during the intitial few hundred miles of ownership. Even the highly touted NISSAN GT-R "requires" a bit of break-in time prior to initiating "launch control" features.

I've heard that the LSA, engine installed in the ZL1, is manufactured in Mexico; I've also been told that it is assembled in the USA from components fabricated in Mexico. Anyone know for sure?

It's amusing in some ways as my former '98 MITSUBISHI 3000GT VR-4, built in Nagoya, Japan, was broken-in a bit on the harsh side & never went through OIL & performed admirably during its 14 years of ownership w/o any drama, whatsoever.

I customarily would change fluids (LOF) prior to 1K miles in every new car that I've owned & have used MOBIL-1 for a good number of years since it was marketed with outstanding results.

Some guys will insist that a magnetic drain plug be installed to remove metallic debris during the "process". Pat Goss of MOTORWEEK fame suggests replacing the drain plug with a precision brass drain plug "valve" that is spring-loaded & rotated on an angle for flow to eliminate the possibility of stripping oil pan threads.

I disagree. 1.5 spots. I don't consider it double parking if you use one of the little half spots...

Sweet - now you'll REALLY enjoy the ride. Have fun and
take any many parking spots as you need to keep her
dent and ding free

I'm averaging 19.1mpg. Maybe, I'm being too mild on the car, but plan to increase the tempo as it acquires a few more miles.
