I've unplugged it multiple times...tried different cables....And it keeps getting worse.

Mine does it if I haven't plugged my phone in for a while... it only does it when it's "indexing" or whatever you call it, then it works fine afterwards. 2012.

They did two software updates and said that it should be up to snuff now.
What version are you running?

DB/DD is the latest version, but last I checked, they need to physically replace the PDIM module to make that change. Apparently there is not a software upgrade path from DB/DB to DB/DD. And the crackling and static still exists on DB/DD (at least for me). If I just unplug and plug back in the ipod at the usb port, it will go back to normal for a while and then start the static again. So far the only definite fix that I've heard of for this issue is going with an aftermarket head unit with iPod support, or deal with it. If you're having constant static/crackle, then that's a different issue than what I'm experiencing.

And I've tried the unplug method.. nothing. I was running an AUX cable today to see if its the iPod, and it isn't...not a bit of crackle that way...only when through the usb.

Ok, this is the wording on the repair bill when they fixed my USB/iPod issue. No problems since this was fixed in August.
customer states when iPod is plugged in after about 45 minutes start to hear static - crackling - part ordered. Scan multi media module interface for bulletin #PI005B. The module needs to be replaced for crackling noise. Replaced the multi media interface module and check software. OK They ordered part #20927509 Module 9.680

I know no EXACTLY what to tell them to order...This will certainly help speed things along.I'll be sure to report back sometime next week to say if this does indeed fix the problem.

This. My cord was pinched and my phone or ipod would sound staticy when connected through my car stereo until I bought a new cord.

Never noticed the static on radio or CDs. It's only intermittent, so I knew I couldn't repeat it for the dealer. The TSB number is a big help. |
