agreed... the only way that this could have been possible would be if the track was completely drenched in VHT and even then I still don't know if it would be possible on the stock tires.

Have you driven a 1/4 mile on the new GYs?

Was the track well prepped, of course. Was it exceptionally well prepped as it would be for a pro event. Nope.

By the way, I do not doubt one bit that you ran an 11.9 with the stock tire. I know we will see even better times from the ZL1 on the stock tire in the near future. No doubt!!!! If the CTS-V can run 11.8's @ 119-120 stock then why can the ZL1 with more power, bigger tire and less weight do it???? Its just silly to say that the ZL1 cant.

Im sticking to my original prediction of 11.6's @ 120+ bone stock on the stock tire ZL1's in the future. It will have to be a nice cold day but still..............

EDIT: Were you the one driving the car in question? That's an honest question - not a smartass one. I'm asking because I have participated in many pro events, and I've also been to private magazine test days. The stickiest track I have EVER run on/walked on was at E-town for an MM&FF magazine article event. And while the National events I went to (not NHRA National events - NMRA) always had VERY good track prep, it was not the same as that one day at E-town.

I did not drive the car. The data I have came directly from those in attendance at the track that day. What I am not at liberty to discuss is why the times were not better. I think there is an 11:5 car waiting to be let loose in stock trim. The electronic wizardry and the computer wizards that write the code for the ZL1 may be able to take it to another level. I have a few thoughts on the subject that are in good hands.

I starting to think that maybe you already said too much. Your last couple of post speaks volumes to me.

Let's say, for argument's sake, the '13 GT 500 scales @ the same Curb Weight as the '12...3820 lb. With it's existing 54-46 weight distribution, that puts about 1760 lb. on the Shelby's rear tires, at rest.

Now, the Curb for a 6-speed ZL1 is 4120...300 lb. heavier...with a 51-49 weight distribution. Of that 300 extra lb., 260 of it sits on the rear tires...

Add 2" of extra tire width (305/35 vs. 285/35, as per Goodyear's specs) and suddenly (!) it's a driver's race...

Too bad PTM 5 didn't include a reprogramming of the front shocks to allow greater front lift for the 1st 2 gears from a dead stop...

BTW, when you add the SVT Track Pack option (not that dedicated 1/4-milers will) to the 500, much of that weight goes where? Yup...the front end...something the ZL1 includes at no extra charge...

How did you calculate that? Just curious.

4120 X .49 = 2018.8 lb.

3820 X .46 = 1757.2 lb.

2018.8 - 1757.2 = 261.6 lb.

That, friends, is part of the reason ZL1s already match 500s, 3 weeks out of the box, "stock-for-stock", with a disadvantageous weight-to-power ratio (ZL1 = 7.10, 500 = 6.94)...
