Point is, that's 2 possible situations where I could have had a flat on the road. I've got to look into getting a full sized spare, and will probably go with Bronxx's set up. Last edited by djm96z28; 05-07-2012 at 05:20 PM. |

I've had a flat in the last 4 years, it does suck not to have a spare to have on hand especially for long trips... peace of mind... especially after my accident, had the tire gotten jacked up I would have had to leave the car in MI.

Instead of cutting holes spacing this wrapping that...
Cadillac CTS Jack and spare tire part number 19179359 it needs the center ring slightly bored out. And it recesses nicely into the spare tire spot. I ripped this idea off of the G8 forum.. Another option posted was BMW 5 series spare tire we share the same bolt pattern that requires a spacer though. |

7.5 BY 18" rim w/ our bolt pattern & offset w/in tolerance Will also work with a 27" tire 225/50/18 or comparable (eg. walmart sells tires for under $100new and is fine for a spare )
i just ordered and will post the result..... road side assist or not- i want a spare! hopefully the 27"spare and 28.7"stock rubber diam in the rear wont do too much to the differential as some knowledgeable people have thankfully brought it to our attention.hopefully they will read this and chime in on the 1.75 inch difference let us know guys! |

Easy button
I hit the easy button early on.Purchased and new factory takeoff front rim and tire for $200.00 & never driven on. Put it in the trunk & used a rachet tie down strap to bind it to the U hooks in the front trunk wall.Sizzors jack , Gorrilla bar and sockets in a zip up vinyl bag.No worries , no wait. I have been ready since day one.

x it
Just put it thru the spokes over the top underneath the tire back up thru the spokes and around you go until you reach the U hooks welded to the back panel.Easy to figure out and ratchet it down.Used a 1 " Ratchet strap. It will ratchet all the way back against the rear trunk panel . Going no where.

You can use a Highland brand strap from NAPA. It's the 31" strap and needs no adjustment if using a full 20" front tire and wheel. It's only $3.00-4.00. Place the tire/wheel on the right rear of your trunk floor and the strap will pull VERY tight to the rt rear U hook.
