Yea
I don't know much about it. I was just pocking around and came across it.

Just thought I would throw it up here.

Burt Chevrolet - Parker

Also Daniels in Colorado Springs are rumored but they will not talk to anyone about it.

I think I was like 6 or 7 when I ordered in January. Stan was telling me around June 18th, or something like that. Stan is a genuine guy. He specializes in trucks and commercial vans. Stan "The Van Man" Katz. Yeah, I saw the V6 there on Thursday night. Sharp car indeed. Car looked like is has a lot more body than the Gen 4, but it is balanced. Stan said it was actually wider than Gen 4, which concerns me because it needs to fit in my garage. His communication is superb, and knows about as much as a good dealer should know (not enthusiast caliber). Responds to email and phone. He said nobody took delivery yet, which was odd, because number 1 on the list was a guy that ordered a silver ice metallic and had a VIN in the 1000's. His car was built months ago. Wonder what the problem is? Did you order your car yet? If not, Hawthorne guarantees Summer delivery if you order now. Not sure HOW they guarantee it but it is advertised and they have no reason to lie I suppose. When my car comes in, I'll post here and if you want to see the car when I take delivery, you are welcome to if you are interested. My wife LOVED the car's lines.

Holy Cheese and Crackers!

WAYYYY too much mis-information here!

First of all - the Huffington Post 'claims' they have the full list.

There is no full list out there - and there will not be a full list out there.

Chrysler is in Chapter 11 -- therefore, they can cancel any and all contracts (I'm not an attorney...) They released a list -- and further, as I understand it -- dealers will expect to wind down operations by mid June. (!!!)

GM is not in Chapter 11 -- so the dealers who were notified were told that GM does not plan to renew their Sales and Service Agreement when the current agreement ends in 2010. (Sales and Service Agreements are for 5 year periods)

There ARE some dealers on the Chrysler site that have GM brands in their names -- that's because their 'corporate charter' at one time included brands that they may or may not have....but if a dealer on the Chrysler site has GM brands -- those brands are NOT included in the Chrysler plan.........

......meaning, that, say "John Doe Chevy/Cadillac/Chrysler/Jeep" -- is losing their agreement with Chrysler - and, at this juncture, would continue as "John Doe Chevy/Cadillac" unless the dealer decides otherwise.

Now --

Dealers are not getting red letters or yellow letters or green letters or checkerboard letters -- ONLY dealers who will not have their agreements extended after 2010 got a letter on Friday.

That does not mean they're going out of business right now.

Rather -- this allows them to wind down their business -- it allows them to think about what they may be able to do with real estate -- it may be that their franchise will move to another GM dealer in the same town.... it may mean that the dealer can wind down GM and perhaps sell used cars -- boats - or perhaps pick up another franchise.

Dealers, I believe, DO have the ability to appeal -- (I could be wrong...)

The selection process involved many elements -- from market performance, sales satisfaction scores, service satisfaction scores, financial capitalization, location, and facilities......among other things.

IMPORTANT: There are dealers that received letters that had high satisfaction scores - do NOT assume that all dealers had poor satisfaction scores.........

Lastly - I would NOT quote anything you read on the Huffington Post or any other site -- as there are likely to be mistakes -- and circulating bad information could have devastating consequences for a dealership.

The sad part? Most of these dealers were good people. They raised money for charity - they were the first ones to sponsor Little League Teams - they were the first ones to cough up money for the family that lost everything in a fire -- or to bury a loved one when a family had no money.........they did many many good things for many many people -- and they employed people -- and their livelihoods will be changed forever.

My heart goes out to those who have received a letter..........

What happens to the unfinished orders if a dealer does close down?
Do you work out some special circumstances and have the allocation transferred?

amen f-bod...in fact i don't understand how closing a private dealership who owns the inventory themselves saves gm any money??? it makes no sense and i know the so called car czar's have some ulterior motives or a really wacked out philosophy...i won't get too much into it since i'd like to stay non-partisan and i know you don't even want to touch that subject

but what is going on is just plain criminal and those dealers don't deserve this and it makes no sense what so ever....God bless you man

well -- as you know, my family has owned a few Chevy dealerships over the years -- and my cousin still runs one......

I can tell you that I've not slept in a couple of weeks -- this is a gut wrenching thing to watch -- believe me -- it's been HORRIBLE.............

Here's the problem:

In 1970 (when Honda built motorcycles, Datsun was Nissan, Toyotas sold cars in California and that was about it, (and foreign cars' interiors would deteriorate right on the lots...)...the Big Three were Chevy, Ford, and Plymouth, --and Americans still bought American cars and were proud to do so........we had the right number of dealers in the right locations.

Then the world changed.

I can think of one area in the country where there are 20+ Chevy dealers -- and 7 Toyota Dealers -- and Toyota outsells Chevy 3 to one.

That means the Toyota dealer is probably making some serious money....and it also means that most of the Chevy dealers are either losing money -- and have for some time - or are making very little money.........

That's a bad thing.

I remember a dealer saying to me one time: "If you have 50 head of cattle and enough food for 30 -- do you try to feed all 50 and watch them all get diseased and die? -- OR -- do you slaughter 20 and keep 30 healthy ones?"

.........see where this is going?

The really sad part? (and this is going to get a few people going.....)

WHEN did it become fashionable for Americans to hate America? And when did it become fashionable for Americans to buy from countries that would not lift a finger to help us in bad times? And where did the thought come from that a service industry can create untold wealth? (.......there is less and less industry and production in this country and it scares the HELL out of me...)

Sorry guys and gals -- but the past few months have been a living hell for a lot of people -- and I guess I look back at how America pulled together during the first world war and the second world war - and people made HUGE sacrifices so that we would be victorious -- and let's face it -- we've become all about "Me-me-me" rather than 'We-we-we" -- and what you see happening to GM and Chrysler and Ford is only the beginning if we don't soon wake up!

Yes -- the District Manager and Zone Manager work with the dealer to move the vehicle to another dealer........but keep in mind that most of the dealers who received a letter are not going to close tomorrow or next week or next month.

Not sure what you mean, but go read my post about GM dealers on the Chrysler list.....the GM franchises are not part of Chrysler closing down their portion of the dealership.
