I know that delivery may be right around the corner, but the dealership is only getting two of them, and may very well be slated for closure anyway.

I have put off buying a car like this for almost three years, since I first laid eyes on it in the movie, but geez, the sequel is going to be out soon, thats just too much time to devote to any one vehicle, especially when there are great deals on used Vette's, Mustang's, 350z's, etc.

Now before someone tells me those cars arent as cool as the Camaro, I agree, but those cars are available, affordable, and dont come with the butt kissing required to get a dealer to allow you to buy a car from them.

The only power we have as consumers is our money, and I am not prepared to sacrifice my hard earned dollars to this type of situation.
so you will go out and buy something thats second best?
while i will agree with you about the BS i would never pay for a car i really didnt want unless it was a vette than congrats to you sir!

Its really a very ugly disease, symptoms include low customer service expectations and GM idolization. As the disease progresses victims may pass out and wet themselves at the very mention of a Camaro sighting. There is no known cure at this time because GM is still FUBAR. However, Doctors are working feverishly to find a cure and with any luck we may turn the corner on this ugly affliction in the near future. Keep the faith.

What I don't understand is, why people think that GM filing for bankruptcy is a bad thing.

and a failing company?

have you seen the sales numbers?

This is a very good point that dealers need to be aware of the level of customer support for orders like these. The more responsive the customer support the better the patient's quality of life while waiting for delivery. (this sounds just like a pregnant mother that is one week over due the more I think about it )

Now where are my meds........
You lost me on the medical terminology but the drugs sound wonderful.

I wouldn't say that. They can certainly improve the communication between themselves and the dealer network. If they expect dealers to be able to answer customer concerns, then they should be able to step up to the plate and review how and what actually gets communicated to the dealer.

Does GM really understand what the customer's expectations are in regard to what is communicated to them? Do they really believe that it is sufficient to only tell the customer the car is in QC hold or should they be telling the customer when the work will be completed and when the car will be at the dealer?

If a car is stuck at the dealer but cannot be sold to the customer because there is no window sticker or it has not been officially released from QC even though the car is sitting at the dealership, then what is being done to eliminate this issue? Maybe they think it is all part of normal business and perfectly acceptable?

It all boils down to poor communications (which is one aspect of customer service). This has nothing to do with the car or how long it took to develop it, the effort that went into developing it, etc. They are the same isssues which any GM customer can and may face.

I can tell you one thing, any smart car company will examine these issues closely and ensure they do not have similar communication gaps in their customer service programs.

While I agree that bankruptcy may be necessary for GM to get its house in order, when did bankruptcy become a GOOD thing ???

Bankruptcy can be good or bad just depends on what you do with it. That's true with personal and business bankruptcy. For instance, it was the best thing I ever did, like 10 years ago. Now because I did that, I can actually afford to buy a 2SS R/S assuming it gets delivered

I'm sure you put your deposit on a credit card...so just call the credit card company and dispute the claim..

Just like everyone else. Why should you be first?

You either knowingly or unknowingly made that choice. Not GMs fault.

I am trying to be understanding but theres not much to go on.

Get your deposit back and reorder---don't you have any other dealers anywhere near your residence?

Bankruptcy should and is not a good thing. I'll spare you the lecture read the treads on it in the general automotive forum.

I was told by my dealer that if I changed my mind and cancelled my order, I would get my deposit back once the car arrived and sold. Though there’s nothing on the Vehicle Purchase Order about cancelation. Now, if the dealer closes, I don’t know, but I wouldn’t take no for an answer. I’d call an attorney and ask what your legal position is. As a last resort you could picket.
