To be completely honest... your stock air box can handle up top 400hp easy! When you start adding mods, aftermarket intake will only give you extra boost off peak, but your peak will be about the same. I made 284 rwhp with stock box!!! while we was testing and developing e85 tuning. After I added a aftermarket intake, I only ghained about 10 extra hp off peak. If you plan to do light modding such as exhaust, tune and intake, then a aftermarket intake will help alot, but if you plan to mod extensively, you can actually still use factory box and still make what you want peak wise.

Go for it
I just installed an injen short ram intake and I love it. The sound difference is great and install was easy. It was actually my first mod I did by myself besides radios. Def do it!

Well I will tell you to be careful with some CAI. I had an Injen CAI sitting by the tire area and it sucked up a ton of water. This happened about a week ago. There was a flood and all the water hydro locked the engine. Thankfully the insurance is covering but the estimate came out to nearly $7,000 for a new engine, and labor. So if you live in an area where it rains a lot get a short CAI don't even risk it. Guess the only good thing coming out of this is a newer engine (less mileage) and some performance tweaks by the shop. What is tweaking the computer anyway????

I want to get a cold air intake and axle back exhaust. I've pretty much decided on getting the MRT v2.0, but I'm torn between the CAI or Injen? I really like the way the CAI looks but I heard that Injen is tuned for the Camaro and will not turn any check engine lights on. I don't want to have to go to the dealership and ask them to turn a light off because I installed an aftermarket part.

Went CAI. Tons of people put them on their V6s.

Do it, I just installed mine about a week ago and the sound difference is instant and it feels stronger.

I'm poor so I went with the Spectre 9909. I personally am pleased. $120. Installed in 30 minutes. Looks good. Sounds sexy. Can feel it in those low gears too.
