License Plate frame in Florida - Brantley?

I bought a license plate frame and it has teeth that surround the outside of it.

One of the teeth covers up about half of my registration sticker (the one with the date) in the upper right hand corner. It doesn't cover up any of the license plate numbers.

Would you anticipate me getting pulled over for this? If so, what may be the penalty?

I would appreciate any input.

Thanks,
Rob

Probably not.....unless you were doing something else to attract the officers attention. However there are those that are anal retentive and would write their mother a ticket on Mothers Day....lol!

You certainly could.

Florida law prohibits anything that obscures any part of the plate lettering or reg decal. Whether you actually get a ticket is officer discretion.

Id estimate 6/7 cars in Fl have some type of modification violation, between tint, lights, tags... hell; there's even a statute that states altering the exhaust from manufacturered specifications is illegal... all depends on the cop behind you and if he/she thinks there's more there than just a tag ticket

Any obstruction of the sticker or info on the plate is illegal in FL but rarely enforced.

Since they changed to one sticker color for every year, I figured as long as they can read and run the tag I would be ok.

If I have any issues, I'll punt.

Have they not been yellow for the past decade? I don't recall ever using a different color. I know for sure 2010-2011-2012 are all yellow.

haha...probably, but I haven't needed to worry about it in a long time.

I don't know how long it's been since they changed, but they used to be a different color every year.

As long as the license plate frame doesn't say, "Doughnuts for COPS!!"
