Be happy for now, they haven't caught up with the new model yet and updated their system to include the ZL1. Once they get it updated, the rates will go up...

Absolutely call.insurance companies only pay for what you tell them you have.picture this scenario, you let some challenger driver friend of yours drive your zl1 a he wraps it around a tree as he has obviously never had that much power so you call (insert name here) and tell them, they send joe the claims adjuster (whos job it is to save them money) out to settle up and he says well my hands are tied dude you were paying us for a 2ss so thats what we are paying you for.....think about it ...same theory applys to mods. Tell your insurance they dont care what you add, however if you dont tell them they will not pay. If you dont believe me ask them straight up.

Call for sure, mine says ZL1 ... It's not in the system yet, but they based the policy off of the car value. Right now if it says SS, you won't get the value if it's totaled.

You want to make sure your baby is covered. Call your agent to update them, make sure you document your call in case there is a question in the future. It's interesting that some of the post here remark don't tell the insurance company because they will raise your rates, but they are the same people that will scream if their claim doesn't go exactly in their favor. Why is it ok to not be honest with your insurance carrier?
BTW a good adjusters job is to write a fair estimate and negotiate with the shop of your choice to get your vehicle back to the condition it was in before the loss.

I would have it corrected, or if it's not in their system have your agent make a good note about it on your account.

If you guys are not using them as a daily driver you really need to look into Collector car insurance Grundy is the most user friendly IMHO and it's an Agreed Value v.s Market value so if you want to insure it for $70k and they accept it at $70k if it's totalled you will get the $70k.

I have Grundy on my 69 Z and my 2001 Z/28 my 01 is valued at $35k and I pay a little over $300 a year no limitations on miles the only stipulations is I have a daily driver, and a garage.

I also use Grundy, I called and got a quote and is was over 100 dollars higher (every 6 months) than State Farm for the under 7500 miles a year policy.

allstate has us down as owning 2 LS coupes. even when the lady put SS it defaulted out as LS coupe. ZL-1 wasnt even an option yet, until they have to repair a few.

I have Allstate and when I first called them they said the ZL1 was going to be $1000 for six months. Monthly payment would be going from $250 a month to $500. I then did some check and had a sit down with my agent. We rewrote my policy on all my cars (5 of them) increased the liability limits and added full replacement cost on the ZL1. I have been with Allstate for 30+ years with no accidents or tickets in over 10 years. The final outcome was my entire policy dropped $10 a month to $240 and I have better coverage.
