Musclecar wars are on BABY!!!!
im sure Ford is taking the new CAFE into acount. the ecoboost already meets those numbers depending on the weight of the car

Sorry, silly pushrod guy question.

This is DOHC right?

Don't DOHC motors generate power in the higher RPM ranges by nature?

Serious question.

OH and no, the LS3 doesn't require high octane. But they do recommend it for performance applications.

oh ok i was just going off what motor trend said they used.

the current GT does not require it either.

but come on guys......if you can afford 35k and 400hp, this isnt your daily driver, i would hope........so who cares what kind of gas you need

Ok.

A and B) It's a N/A 5.0L, which means it's going to have to be considerably high c/r to achieve those numbers...or high revving...both of which will mean it's going to be heavily tuned (expensive to engineer) and probably require high octane. It also means unless it is direct injection (is it?) it's not going to handle very much boost without lowering the c/r (decreasing the factory numbers back down to normal in the first place).

C) If you actually belive a new car cna come out without weighing more and being more expensive then you are in the same pipedream that Camaro owners were before the numbers were released on our car.

Better than LLN. I'll concede for now, but I'm still not 100% convinced yet. I reserve that right as a Camaro fanboy.
these are your opinions and you are welcome to have them my friend i will quote you for when the engine is in production if you don't mind?

The only problem with announcing it so early means the Challenger and Camaro know what they've got to beat.

As always we should be cautiously optimistic. We know what auto makers say and what they actually do are sometimes at odds. I'm hoping they can keep the weight down and the power up though!

i just realized that i can make my favorite mustang. a few years down the line i can get a 5.0 used or new. and i could make it a BOSS 302. all i need is some vinyls which usually go for 400 bucks with installation

You just knew Ford wasn't gonna hang back for long...

Now if we could just get the Z28 to go after the GT500...

Hey I can hope right?

this is true.

however.......do you relaly believe either company is in good enough financial position to spend money on changing their engines? i dont.

all Ford has done has pretty much matched them. it would be stupid of them to spend money just to out do them for a few years.

no its up to the super chargers and other things for the individual to make their car more powerful now
