Manual Transmission HUD shift point display

Hello,

I'm ordering my 2013 next week with a manual transmission and a question came to mind.

I noticed in the ZL1 videos the HUD has an option to show approaching shift points. Do the other models with manual transmissions also have this mode?

No. It is a ZL1 special feature. However, it is possible that the 1LE camaro could come with this feature though.

Hello. I am new to the forum and just got my first camaro. It is a 2011 rs ss convertible. The owners manual says the HUD should show the gear you are in...mine doesnt. Is there a way to turn it on or does it apply to automatic only?

I had the same question meso, good news is give it a week and you'll get better used to the shifter but it would have been great and still would to have the shift points and current gear in the HUD window. It gets to be a slight pain when downshifting and trying not to go into the wrong gear at times when you are still learning the car.

YA...finding the shift points is definately going to take a little practice. I havent driven a stick in 20 yrs and I am, to say the least, on a learning curve. Still a little jumpy between gears....but having a lot of fun figuring it out. The biggest challenge is dropping it from 6 at a hwy cruise and getting into a gear with the peak hp.

Pages 5-28 through 5-32 in your owner's manual should tell you exactly what should show up on the HUD. It states that your transmission position should show up, but this may be for automatic transmission codes such as: park, drive, reverse, etc. Please let us know if it displays this information for you.

^This is what I've also learned. Also, when not getting into it and taking a turn, 3-4 both suffice decent, 2 if you are getting into it after the turn. Get used to RPM matching during the shift and it will get to be even more fun.

I did read the owners manual and everything that is supposed to be in the HUD display is there, except the gear position. It does not say in the owners manual that it applies to auto only so I assumed it was supposed to be there. An earlier post did state it was for auto only.....idk.
