Help with diagnosis!

Approximately four months ago, I received all my goodies. (Kooks stepped headers with off road pipes, Grannatelli wires, ported throttle body, SW retro catback, rx catch can, JRE Scoop, CAI, SCT Tuner and tune by Ted. Installed (with help) everything with no issues. About a month later, heard a little rattle coming from the exhaust and found some metal to metal contact. Fixed that but still had some rattle.

Long story short, I put the tune back to stock and brought it to the dealership to see if they could fix the rattle because it also felt like the heat shield was loose. Good Service manager at the local dealership here says that he will check the heat shield under warranty and will remove the aftermarket exhaust and put it back on correctly (or at least without rattle). got the vehicle back, put my tune back on and NO rattle anymore.

The problem of the rattle is gone but what i find is that the car is now idling rough and when i'm driving through my neighborhood at 14-15 MPH there is a distinct vibration and somewhat hesitation in the throttle. If i hit it, it takes off, but if i ease on the throttle I can feel the vibration and hesitation. I can even feel the vibration in the air. This is not just at the 14-15 mph range. its at any speed where it levels off and i ease on to the throttle.

I removed the tune and put it back on yet no change. i put it back to stock and brought it back to the dealership since it was fine prior to them touching the exhaust. They said today that there is nothing they can find and that it must be in the tune. any suggestions on what to do at this point.

Thanks for any help

it doesnt feel like a misfire. all misfires ive been around were pretty rough. This is just a slight vibration and hesitation. I notice it because i drive it everyday and can tell something is not right. Another person might not even be able to tell, but its enough for me to notice.

I bet one of the the coils is either not on the plug good, or you have a bad coil/plug

with it getting recent exhaust work, i'd check to make sure the coil wires are snug on the plugs 1st... I just had this EXACT thing happen to mine a few days after getting my headers on, the back coil was loose

sounds like a misfire, which would be caused by a loose coil, bad coil, or bad plug

my car had a hesitation, in 1st especially, and the car shook enough to be felt at idle...

I checked one plug and it looked fine. was worried about the plugs because it definitely smells like its running rich after the tune. Plug looked fine. I'm gonna change the plug wires back to the stock ones when i get home from work and see if thats it. I pulled off the catch can at first because i was worried that could be causing it. i went to drain it after 500 miles and not a drop came out. (i made sure that it was not open and that it was in fact hooked up right). I removed it and of course that was not the issue.

it stumbles a little at idle but not to much. It feels more like a vibration than a stumble though. the RPMS barely move during all of this. Maybe from 500 to 400-450 at most

the DOD is gone with the tune so its def not that. The injector possibly. but i have 3500 miles on the car. Thats pretty quick for something to be too dirty, wouldn't you think?

and the tunes been on it for almost six months and no problems until they touched my exhaust. It just doesnt make sense and i'm not mechanically inclined enough to start messing around looking for stuff

have you tried the stock plug wires yet? when you say they messed with the exhaust just exactly what did they do? did they mess with the headers? did you check all the plugs? maybe one of them is cracked.

Have you tried calling Ted about this? I've never used his services, but from what I've seen, he is one of the best tuners in the world. He loves figuring out what is wrong with one of his customer's cars. I'm willing to bet Ted can solve this problem within an hour of you datalogging the car and sending him the file.
Give him a call.
