From svtperf, Page 93 of the "GT500 vs. ZL1" thread, and a whole bunch of familiar participants responding:

"Looks like another 12.5 run for the zl1!

12.54@111 no cool down...bone stock automatic

Just wanted to report my automatic ZL1 1/4 mile time. Best et was 12.54@111 with a 1.92 60'. No traction issues and I launched fairly easy. I put the tires down to 25psi and ran with traction control off and in track mode 5 with no differences. Yes, I tried to manumaticshift italso and itran exactlythesame. In auto, it was shifting well before 6k...more like 5.5K. The temp was 90ish degrees and muggy with DAs around 1950ft. A little underwhelming but ok considering conditions and no cool down.
"

Eerily similar, and posted within 10 minutes of your post, here. If that's not you, then someone's sharing your story.

Seems as though, on this Memorial Day, we have GT Terrorists planting IEDs over there. And here, too.

Also don't know about brake fade with the GT500 brakes--just about zero on the ZL1.

Would I have liked it to be a consistent 11.6 car--Yep, but what remains for me is its all round performance. I do think Chevy needs to up thier game--in the meantime if I really feel the need for speed more I can go over to Andy at ADM and for less than 3K be at 700 plus at the crank reliably. May not get me 100K like the pwertrain warranty but I am sure I will get 60K--the length of Ford's powertrain warranty, I believe.

JMHO
Guess I don't get it. If it's slower and doesn't do it better, what is the 99% of the things it does better? Seriously not trying to be a dick but is there something I'm missing in your statement?

As I asked you in Post #49, were those nice folks at the ford site able to offer constructive assistance? Before all the smilies and headslaps?

The next thing you'll finally admit to is the tank contained 87-octane. Did it?

Pages of "fail"? I'm pretty sure you had an idea this might happen, and that the Pony Posse would follow up. Which they have.

Kudos

Dude! Ever heard of copy/paste? It's obvious someone copied the OP's post, and posted it over there... Way to go to call out the OP...

Your detective skills are top notch...

Funnily enough I've been keeping an eye out for you too. Have yet to make TMS (Cayuga) this year thanks to work interfering, and needing to get some new rubber. Oh, and the other thing is, between 9 am and 7 pm weekdays, I'm likely driving a silver Mazda 2. We should arrange a meet, I'm back from St. Pete's this weekend although my son is racing Sunday at Goodwood.

No worse than SaVanT calling out a guy with a non-packaged GT500 on order, who wanted to know, in fact, whether all GT500 coupes were speed-unlimited BUT then was accused of being someone from here?! Nice greeting. Made him really feel welcome.

And why would a SaVanT member in good standing bother to copy and paste, as their own post, from here? Their usual high standards, over there? Or more rhetoric?

Good fences make good neighbors. The Pony Posse rides again.

Wheres the ring and VIR times? I drove a mustang (10 Bullit) for a month) did not like it. Cramped... I just believe the camaro is a better, more well rounded drive. Just my opinion...where did I say 99% they both have strengths, and weaknesses!

Yep and that's why on my 98 Z28 with stock pressure I ran 13.1 and when dropped all the way down to 16 psi I managed to drop 3 tenths of my 60 foot from 2.2 to 1.9. in turn i hit a 12.5 at 111.9. yep lowering air pressure causes you to get less traction.

Agreed, even the renowned Ranger tells you to remove 20% of the recommended air pressure to improve launches. Too little air, however, and you rides the rails (sidewalls).
