Haha....... We just love to ruffle feathers. I did the same thing to the Mustang crowd back in 02'. Ended up out in Frisco picking them off 1 at a time with the T/A...that was a while ago.....I think pre- felony for street racing.

I think what edges out the camaro in the end as far as being faster is the IRS/weight compared to the stang. Just my .02

Doesn't the Mustang have the option of getting better gears from the factory?

Can come with factory 3.31, 3.55 or 3.73s or the dealer may even install 4.10s from the ford racing catalog.

Yes, but the fastest stock 1/4 mile time has been done with 3.31s.

I got the 3.73s in mine, but for the life of me, it angers me that they give us the option of either a 235 series all season, or a 245/255 summer tire. A 400+hp RWD muscle car should not have skinnier tires than a hot hatch.

Yeah lol. Even my 07 needed 285s on the back to keep things under control.

my cousin has a 2011 5.0 stick with drag radials, intake, tune, and x-pipe. That car pulls....and it feels a bit faster than mine....

Ive driven the 5.0's, almost traded in my 05 goat for a '11 GT premium m6 with a 373 rear. I was just really impressed that it kept up with my bolt on goat AND had a warranty! But in the end I shoved a Cam in it and called it a day lol As far as the 'maro ss I do not own one and was NOT impressed at all with them when the '10's came out (sorry if that offends anyone) but after a bit more experience here and there with them, I've realized from the second I set in one in '09 that it was like a very slow venemous bite thats been infecting me slowly, now I realize i've been "bitten" and the only cure is stepping my arse into a Brand Spankin New Camaro SS M6 haha. oh yeah... Drivers race edge to the coyote imo.

It's not just Inside Line, C&D did a test way back in April 2010 with pretty much the same results:

Well he who spends the most wins. I am a guy, (and yes I will admit it) who owned a 2005 modded srt4 "neon". I wipped everything from Vettes to other moded four bangers. Its what you know about your car and hat you PROPERLY install. And of course....useable horsepower. I ran and 11.9 at 121.41 with that car. So quit with the whats better than what. Build it to do what you want

I think what makes this comparison most interesting is that they used the same tires on both cars. Here is the video version of the C&D comparison for those interested:

I will say I like my auto camaro better...but I like a manual 5.0 better than a manual camaro.

Prior year Mustang auto's did indeed leave a LOT to be desired (especially the 2004 and earlier models), but the 5.0 versions are generally every bit as quick as the M6 cars.

I didn't see a timeslip in that thread.....but there is a timeslip in one that ran a 12.7. Needless to say, they are quick stock.
