Corsa 2.5" Sport Cat-back

I just finished installing a Corsa 2.5" Sport Cat-back system (P/N 14952) on my 2012 SS.

My initial observations are:

The system is well-made. The mechanic who helped me didn't think he'd ever seen a system fit any better.

It's quiet. Even though I have a tune (AFM turned off) I got the automatic version with the resonators. It's no louder than stock at idle and only a little louder than stock at speed (70 - 75 mph), with no drone at all. It barks pretty good when stomping into it, though.

The improved throttle response tells me it flows better than stock.

I'm not sure about how much lighter it is than the stock system, but it's noticeable.

I'm pleased, but those of you wanting an aggressive sound will probably be disappointed. I expect headers and hi-flow cats would wake it up a lot.

Yeah, I had a Corsa Sport with Kooks headers on my GTO and it was explosively loud on cold start ups. Adding a cam just made it worse. My car sounded like a race car idling through the neighborhood at 7am in the morning.

Just wondering, how much clearance between the crossbrace and the XO pipe did you end up with? Assuming you used the spacers that it came with.

I did this same install yesterday and actually needed to get more spacers for the cross brace. I mean it didn't need a lot of the resonators were definitely rubbing with he speakers they provided. Other than that the exhaust is awesome! I'm very happy with it.

Which one did you install, PN14951 or PN14952?

The manual system is a bit louder right off the shelf as well. Headers will really do you some justice though.

ummm i dont remember the PN. it was the one for the L99 (with the resonators built in to the X pipe).

i mean i did exactly what the said. have someone hold the XO pipe up to the heat sheild while tightening all the clamps but its sagged down and started rubbing within the first 10 minutes of driving. i mean for a 1100 exhaust i didnt expect to have clearance issues but i do understand that those resonators are pretty big and that opening is pretty small. whatever.....it sounds good and thats the important part.

I installed 14952.

I wound up with close to an inch of clearance between the resonators and the crossbrace with the spacers installed.

I expect the system to settle somewhat, though. I feel confident the resonators will be about 1/2 - 3/4 inch off of the brace.

I did the install on a lift. At first it looked like the system was going to hang too low and I was going to have to add more spacers/washers to the crossbrace. We then loosened the strap clamps and the resonator inlet clamps while I held the front of the resonators as high as I could. After tightening the clamps back up, we had plenty of clearance.

I don't mean to stir the stink pot, but if you're experiencing clearance issues, I suggest you give your installation another try. There's actually plenty of room.

I'll know for sure after putting more miles on the car with the Corsa system installed, but I'm pretty sure it'll clear the crossbrace even without the spacers after settling.

I also have the 14952,( the one for the auto tranny). I am also very happy with the system. I have had mine on for almost 2 months and 2,500K miles. I do believe that the system has gotten a little louder since the install. It is better than stock. especially when you get on it. As far as the XO pipe goes, after the initial install, my XO pipes were actually too high. When driving over a big bump the pipe would hit the heat shield above it. So I had to loosen the clamps and let it come down some. Just last week I was on a bumpy road and heard the XO pipe hit the cross brace. (just a tad). After 2,500K miles of no issues, I could not believe it. So I just added a couple of washers onto the spacers. Seems like there is a happy medium there between too high and too low. I do not feel like getting under the car and readjusting the pipes to raise it an 1/8". I am thinking about calling Corsa and asking if the 14951 XO Pipe is an exact fit to my 14952. And if so, could I just buy that part. The Diameter of the 14951 XO pipe looks to be about 1'' to 1.5" smaller. Then the system would have no clearance issues, plus be a little louder. And in the future if I was to install headers, I would have a choice of XO pipes, depending on the sound. Also just a note, its a good idea to recheck your clamps for 45ft-lbs of torque after the first heat cycle. Torque when the system is cool. Then maybe check it again later. After a few more heat cycles.

Be carefull... it is super quiet by itself... but adding headers and/or cam and this system goes to the other extreme...

That's what I have been reading. I do not know if I really want that loud. I would like to be able to drive thru my neighborhood late at night or early in the morning without the neighbors getting woke up.

thats what i dont get. i remember when i just had corsa cat back, wasnt to loud. maybe at WOT. but now with headers and cam i have yet to hear a louder camaro on the road lol.
