I highly doubt they got 80k for the car. Dealerships lie a lot, and typically use this method of story, to empower you to purchase one at MSRP - as if you're getting a deal of a lifetime. Oldest trick in the book.

A local paid 81k for a black on black manual.

I always wonder if these stories are true or not. I have no doubt that you could get 3-5k over to the right buyer but 80k is just dumb. I could get on ebay right now and buy one of many for 15k less tha that. some poeple just have money to burn though.

Car dealers have to love finacialy reckless people.

Carr in beaverton was telling me 70-75k right before pricing was released. then when I said "why would anybody pay that for a camaro" then they guys said "well there already sold at that" my response was "if they are already sold for that how do you have one for me at 75k?" then he kind of relized he was a dumbass. So either A. he was teling the truth and wasting my time talking about an allocation they did not have or B he was full of it.

So my question is how do these people make and keep all their money without knowing how to do a little simple research? I mean seriously it takes like five minutes to find the MSRP for these cars through google.

There should be a law against crazy markups. Thank god my dealer gave it to me at MSRP.

The sole 2012 that my dealer received sold for MSRP. The person that bought has the means to pay way more. It's not how my dealer does business. I'm on the list for a convertible for a maximum of MSRP.

Today I looked at a Victory Red with virtually no options. They wanted 10K over and nothing less.

Well this is also a dealer that's more than likely still listed in that "Price gouging" dealer thread that floats around... They had an 10k markup listed on the window sticker on all new Camaro's when they first came out, which dropped to 8k, and now still to this day they have a 5k markup on ALL (even v6) Camaros...

The very first Camaro to show up here was a 2LT v6 auto, and they sold it for 45k...

This is by far the most ridiculous dealership EVER when it comes to pricing... I don't think it's a story to get you to pay MSRP... They really try to bone people... They even throw some sand on there while they're boning you... And smile while they're doing it.

This. I've never heard a dealer say "Hey we just got this car in and we're trying to gouge the shit out of our potential customers but a wealthy idiot just hasn't come along yet" or "our business model is 'a fool and his money are soon parted'"
