i'm 62 and just bought my first camaro..2012 bumble bee...and i love the car....why did i wait so long ????? ha! ha!

I find around here (whitby / Oshawa) im the only person under like 40 or 50 that drives a camaro (im 23). I see younger people driving mustangs, but have yet to see someone that looks in their 20s or even 30s that has been driving one.

I was 19 when I bought mine 13 months ago, now I'm 20. And I paid for mine by myself, with my dad co-signing on the loan.

What did you do at age 16 to bank $16,000 with no loan or parental assistance? At 16 you can just legally hold a job in most states, so did the $16k just fall out of the sky?

What many fail to mention is that they live at home, have no debt (IE mom/dad paid for school, paid for apartment, other expenses, etc.) then try to act as if they are a figure of acheivement because they purchased a very expensive vehicle. Kind of reminds me of the guys who buy a $2,000 chevy and throw $4,000 wheels on it.

When someone works hard to buy such a nice vehicle, not even just a camaro, that earns a certain level of respect. It's not that I don't respect those who rely on family money/baby money/mommy/daddy co-signing to buy a nice car, I just don't attribute much respect towards them versus say someone who has busted their ass for years and paid themselves with a nice vehicle. Yeah it's a nice car, but in my eyes you will never understand the value of things unless you work for it.

I without a doubt believe many of these young guys buying such expensive cars either have family money to rely on, or are paying on their purchase with illegal funds If you truly held a job while paying your own way in life - schooling, housing, food, loans...props, you are a shining example of what an upstanding citizen should be.

A friend who saw my car for the first time this weekend said; "nice family vehicle you have there", I just laughed. You only live once and it goes by in the blink of an eye, you may as well have fun while it lasts.
My first car was a 71 Camaro when I was 18, so I feel like I've come full circle.
