Things to look for upon delivery!

The ZL1 is a unique car and thus has some unique things to deal with and look for when you take delivery of your new baby.

First look in the front wheel well and make sure the yellow spring spacers are removed. They are highly visible yellow right at 12 o'clock on the tire position. These should be in the glove box of the car (first clue they are out of the springs).

Check the front and rear bodywork for scrapes like this

This car is very low and this happens taking on and off the transport. Point this out to the dealer and make him replace.

The side skirt should be flush on the bottom. Here is one clip not in...

I was able to get it clipped in with only a small screwdriver helping...

It should look like this pic above.

On the bottom of the splitter there are those little banana shaped air deflectors the dealer has to install. Make sure they are in place. In the pic you can see it on the bottom and in front of the tire.

Please share anything else with the community to make sure we get the best cars possible and what GM intended.

WTF happened to the side skirt? Was it installed I correctly or damaged during transport?

This looks more like curb rash...but hey for $60K, it needs to look like $60K regardless of how it happened.

Thanks for the info. I will be taking delivery of mine soon and will use your info.

One thing else to check for is exhaust tips that are not even. I've seen numerous pics showing the misalignment. Usually, the right tip is too low. Mine was that way, but I had the dealer adjust the hangers to align them before delivery. My exhaust still sticks out 1/2 inch further on one side, but there is no adjustment to correct that.

I thought you were going to have the dealer replace the entire exhaust system (since it's all one piece) because it stuck out further on one side.?

I took it in for service a week or so ago, and the service manager said the other one they got in had the same problem, but according to him at least the tips were level on it. Without the ability to compare my car to another one, I couldn't argue effectively with him. So, it may be a while before I can try again. I still haven't had the chance to stop by a muffler shop and see if they can adjust anything, but I doubt it. I'm not going to have any cutting or heating of my exhaust just to correct the variance. I'll live with it before I risk causing other problems. He was right, I'm probably the only person who will notice it. It looked worse when the tips were uneven.

The back bumper cover i'm pretty sure was from backing off the transport. Either way the damage happened before delivery. Something to look out for.

And the side skirt was never properly installed I think. Saw no damage. Simple to install correctly, took only a minute with a small flat screwdriver.

Glad to see members using this info.
