now what are THESE marks?

Hey all,

Some of you might know my earlier thread documenting my top issues and how they got me a new canvas (see http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=218758).

Here's my current problem.

Attached are some pics of my roof. Originally I thought maybe it was because it was dirty, but it rained last night (ok, I know not a substitute for a car wash) and the marks are still visible.

I'd like some insight if anyone else has had these and what they are so if I do go (back again) to the dealer I know what to tell them.

FYI, if it does go back, I will be contacting my lawyer who has a lemon law case on hold pending my third trip to the dealer for the roof. That will be the third trip.

Thanks alot

Ross

looks like it's dirty to me. Have you tried vacuuming the canvas? Little dust specks can easily just be stuck in there.

Not yet.....I'll try that tomorrow or Tuesday...

I did however notice a pinch behind the pass. window. You can see it a little in one of the pics. Next to another rub mark.

They look more like fold marks that form for verts. They are brought out more if the top is dirty. Try washing and using a very soft ( horse hair) type brush.
I am not saying this is common, I have been through the top replacement issue (4 times). With a top Treatment and washing with a light brush my top now is looking really good. It's been a little more than four months since my total top replacement and things look really good.

Thanks alot -- I'll try that......

The top "treatment" you said -- anything particular or just a washing? Where would I find a horsehair brush?

Just curious, but do the tops need to be treated this new? I thought that stuff was for treating older tops...or is it just preventative maintenance kinda thing?

It's canvas, and it's going to need extra maintenance keep it looking new. And it will look great for many years if you keep it that way, unless like me, GM keeps replacing the damn thing.

NUTT --- I found my 303 off Amazon. Just went and looked because I need more anyway, found a deal at:

http://www.autopia-carcare.com/303-fabric-combo.html

.... and entered the coupon code "303AUTOPIA25" for a 25% pre-shipping discount. Not bad, came out out to like $37.50 for the kit.

After considering it, I am going to go the customer service route first. Exhaust that, then revive the BBB route....

I did get the 303 though, when they replaced my roof and applied it.....

havent tried the iron yet

I'm on with Chevy Customer Service now. She got all my info and placed me on hold while she speak to the dealer.

Said that they will probably want to get the car back in to take a look at it. Meanwhile I told her that me driving down there is a huge pain in the ass if they keep just "looking at it".

We'll see when she returns to the phone.

I created a case with Donna at Chevy Customer Service. I put the roof back up today and it has indentations on the sides and still the wrinkles. She conferenced me in with the dealer and i will be bringing it in on June 25th for them to "take a look at it". I did tell the scheduler when we were conferenced in that this isn't just a "small issue". This is their last chance before I go Lemon Law, just so they know. Tom, the service manager who I've been working with over there is on vacation all next week.

Donna at Chevy Cust Service also told me that she is forwarding the case to the "District Specialist" as well and I'll hear form him/her in 24 business hours.
