Can You Wax The Factory Vinyl Ralley Stripes - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

My First post - loooooong time lurker... so Hey Everybody! I have read on this site that you can wax the vinyl stripes and also read that you can not. I plan on using Zaino - can any one confirm. Much appreciated.

Yes you can but be careful on the edges as you can leave residue in the cracks and is a pain to get off. It's advised that you do wax them as it helps them last longer.

Be careful a lot of waxes have polish in it that can "Scuff" the Vinyl. MAKE SURE your wax is a TRUE WAX, minimum rubbing, light coat is the best technique.

I have a friend who has a Charger Daytona and I personally observed him applying Turtle Wax® Black Color Cure just on the hood where the is a black decal and I can say it works well !
I most likely will use the same on my stripes

Then you have obviously never used it.

No one ever said the car has to sit for 12 hours before you can drive it and if they did they are idiots.

You wouldn't have any problems waxing your vinyl stripes. Residue may eventually build up, but you should be fine if you only wax your car once every 3 months or less. Just use a carnauba wax and you will be fine.I prefer meguiars or eagle one. They both have great products.

I was told by the guy who installed my stripes that i shouldn't wax them. Has anyone actually waxed their dealer installed stripes?
