if it happened while in the possession of gm ( before dealer took delievery) gm will destroy it. Gm does pointless shit like that cause their lawyers said so. its a liability.

That's what they said , but i bet some money that this will end up on some shop , and headed back to some unsuspected dealer [if not the same one ] and later to someone garage as a brand new car .

no, it will be cut in half.

they did that to a solstice coupe a year or so ago. only 1200 of the built and one gets cut in half.

they don't mess around with that stuff. the yard that buys it will have to abide by that.

Its only a flesh wound. That's not too bad of a ding. I would repair it and disclose it to the new buyer.

I have a friend that works in the service department there for over ten years, and he was told along with a manager it would
be scrapped.
I'm just reporting what was told, I hope it will be fixed and sold for a discounted price !!

I call BS. I work for another manufacturer and they NEVER take damaged vehicle's back. If it's over 10% of the MSRP to fix than they have to disclose it to the buyer. Other than that it will be sold PERIOD!

That pisses me off to see that! Nobody just does this all of a sudden. This was probably the norm and only because the car was wrecked was such a big stink made about it. That's why I looked over every inch of my car before I purchased it.

There is a lot of legalese in this one. State laws too probably.

But if the car was still "in transit" it is GM's property and responsibility and there will be no way GM would take the risk of repairing and selling it. A previous post stated it showed as in transit.

If it transferred to the dealer it might be a different story.

Best case scenario is it goes to a junk yard and gets sold with a salvage title. That stays with the car forever.

Way back a long time ago, GM sold parts off of test cars to employees. Batteries, engines etc. All it took was one accident and one lawsuit to end that. Go the the MPG and look at the number of tires and wheels cut in half and engine blocks drilled out. It hurts to see but that is the society we live in and the result is GM doesn't sell anything damaged or otherwise used.

A friend of mine many years ago bought a loaded 4x4 3500 pickup that was at one point a Dodge show truck. Apparently all that happened was something fell on the hood and left fender. He bought it as scrap and had to buy a new frame and transfer everything to the new frame just to get a salvage title on the truck. State regs required it. But he still got a huge deal after all the work he did.
