If you've been around a lot of custom paint I can see why you'd think factory paint has some orange peel. But even then it isn't much. When they painted the flames on my truck I got a chance to look at it before the clear and you can see the imperfections in factory paint really easily when you have something like that to compare it to. But once it was cleared. You couldn't tell the difference. So I don't know.. If you're looking for custom quality paint from the facroty I don't think you're gonna get it.

Just a thought.

I'm very pleased with the progress of the Camaro so far. They have (to the best of their ability) kept in step with the concepts intent. Nice job. Now for the gripe. I can live with the gas filler not being in the top of the fender (they're decision) but for crying out loud will they please keep the filler door on the same side as the steering wheel. If they make a Camaro right hand drive then move the door to the right.

Are there ANY cars where they do that?? It seems like a lot to do and a lot of money and re-tooling just to have the gas cap on the same side as the steering wheel (i.e. creating new quarter panels, possibly different gas tank set-up, etc.)

Agreed. I would guess that the gas cap is staying in its location for the production car.

If you look at most of the more recent model changes from GM, with the exception of the trucks, they all have the gas door on the right side. I have said this before, but I actually prefer to have my gas door on the passenger side. I don't have to worry about hitting anything while opening the door and the Camaro is going to have a big door.

LED headlamps emit a greatly more precise light pattern, while emulating the characteristics of natural daylight much more closely than traditional auto lighting. LEDs are environmentally friendly, using much less power and lasting more than 20 times longer than traditional halogen bulbs. LED headlamps will be an enhancement added to the Escalade Platinum in the summer of 2008, shortly after the start of production of the Platinum model itself in the spring of 2008.

I wonder if these new LED headlights are going to be like the HID's from early 2000 that were getting stolen every day. I bet those cost a LOT. I remember Nissan Maxima's were known as an easy target. People would come out to see their hoods bent back and the headlights missing. This thing is already going to stick out like a sore thumb so I'd rather not have another excuse for someone to mess up my car.

Whoa, wait a second. Why do people think I am ragging on this car?? I am loving the car, alright?!? I was talking about two GMC trucks personal friends have purchased recently who had orange peel in their paint, okay?!

I understand testing methods, and I realize that no one is expecting a top-notch paint job on a test mule. I was critiquing GM's paint issues IN GENERAL, not on the Camaro. I simply used the pictures as a reference to the paint problems I have seen in person on two new black vehicles. Okay?

Question: did you like the concept????

And the rear quarter vents in the 69 weren't functional either -- it's a heritage cue put on a new design.
I was just joshing you about the lights, I have read the threads and saw how much people have bitched. I am confident that I will like what ever you guys put out, and if I don't, then I will change them so that I do like them. Like you said, you can't make everyone 100% happy.

Yes, I loved the concept, and it looked the vents on it were actually punched and molded. Some of the spy shots made them look really similar on the mules.

My apologies if my wording was a little strong Scott. I can assure you i got nothing but for you and the team putting this car out.
