Why the **** would one be worrying about gas when you are about to drop $55k on a new car? Really?

Well, they did really take the "easy route" by using off-the-shelf engine parts, it's a cool car that handles well and makes a lot of power, but it's also 4200lbs and is going to get terrible mileage due to how it makes that power. A 4-5L twin-turbo V8 could probably do better and get the same power or more with less wear and tear on the crankshaft/internals, but there's no GM engine that would fit the bill. The aerodynamics are pretty terrible too (on all of our camaros). There are reasons to like and dislike this car, and don't think for a minute that I doubt it's ability to tear up the track with cars that cost much more, but it's a camaro and not a new 911s with all of it's fuel-sipping technology (that still delivers massive performance). It would cost a lot more if they went any other route. That said, most on this site are reporting about 2mpg less than a SS if driven "nicely" it seems?

I hate to use the F-word (Ford) but I think I remember reading that the GT500 gets better mileage, and it has significantly more power.

And you have to pay a 'gas guzzler tax' of nearly two grand just to buy one.

You'll really hate all the sexy chicks smiling and waving at you. And all that adrenaline you feel when you punch it, that can be really bad for your heart.

Yea because of the rediculously long gears it has. 80mph in 6th gear is 1500rpm
