I originally asked because the lap times fo the Z06/Z07 is crazy even the 7:10 around the Nurburgring is sick think of it only 11 seconds away from braking into the 6 min barrier.
I think the C6 Z06 community pretty much thinks the 7:10 entry done on 6/16/2012 is bogus, and I agree. 7:22 is the accepted time for a Z07 packaged car.

I don't agree with you on the stock C6 Z06 needing coilovers and sways to be a VERY competent track car....especially if the car in question is a street car first, weekend warrior second. Deki's statement above of just using comp-R tires is pretty much right on. To that I would add comp brake pads and high temp fluids (on stock rotors), track bar, and a removable race seat and harness. While coilovers are nice, they really aren't neccassary unless you plan on running TT or better.

I would encourage you to join the Corvette big board and post your desires on how you plan to drive the car in both the C6 Z06 and Roadrace sections, to see what owners that are also experienced track drivers would suggest. Lots and lots of knowledge available (including dedicated full/part time race guys) to help you mod your future car without going overboard in the $$$ department.

It all depends what you want.

Z06 will be hands down a better performer.
But a Camaro SS has a a fold down back seat (fits my 6'4" surfboard), better ride quality, better seating position/comfort behind the wheel (z06 seat is right on the floor and it rides like a hard tail Harley).

I could have purchased a Vette (C6, Z06, etc), but I don't want a Corvette. I want a Camaro SS (I'm a Camaro guy not a Vette guy).

The two cars are very different and each has its advantages. But Z06 for the win if your into road racing, etc.

I'd take a C6 Z06 everyday of the week over a SS (no matter how much it is modified).

If you dont need a back seat, ZO6 all day! 2 reasons I dont have a C6 vette... I need a back seat for my kid, and I love the camaro as well! But really, the vette is the better performer.

The suspension upgrade I mentioned is personal preference not that the car needs it. I don't exactly like the stock Z06 suspension. Also a very popular shop on here told me that the leaf spring suspension has got to go even on the Z06 I agree.

i hear alot of z06 owners say they are worried about how fragile the engine is, imo id go GS then go supercharger and be good!!! if you want a vette that is. if not mod your SS out.

OK....my bad, as I didn't read your comment to be a personal preference.
While I won't question your feelings and dislikes of the stock suspension, as an owner, road racers, and drag racer, of this very car, I can say with 100% confidence that the suspension on the stock car is VERY capable.

Coil-overs are cool....but not neccassary. Especially on a street car

Z06 without a doubt if you don't need a back seat.

LOL the ones who worry are the ones who don't drive them.

Got plenty of options if a valve drops...

Yep......ownership has it's privledges, as well as real life experiences that non-owners will not understand, nor appreciate.
Ignorance is bliss......I love the shit out of my Z06
