I'm more curious to see what it will do with the mods I'll be putting on it. If 10 people with stock cars are getting low-mid 13's, then that's what we should expect. If the occasional ringer of a driver gets a 12.9, then unless you're a badass you probably shouldn't expect that. Now, if 10 people with headers, CAI, cat-back and tune get low-mid 12's, with the occasional ringer of a driver getting a 11.9, then we know to expect low-mid 12's. We've seen plenty of stock, let's get on to the mods!!

For starters there is a thread dedicated to it here, I'm not sure if anyone has posted in it for a while http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21883 There is another member named Nineball who pulled a 13.54, but was running on a less than ideal track and DA, there are more than a few people who point to this as evidence the Camaro will usually be a 13 second performer. However, there are people on the site that know a 111 mph trap speed is more than enough for 12s. |

Yeah that's what I'm saying. 111mph means the potential is there, I just don't understand some of these people's obsession with a 12.9 run.
Camaro Driver: Yeah, this bad boy 2ss runs 12.9's straight from the factory. It will whip the crap out of your Rustang! Mustang Driver: That's cool. Road and Track said my car runs a 13.6. I just ran a 13.4@104mph ::hands CD his time slip:: CD: Ohhhh wwooowww a 13.4. Man, you must have almost dropped a valve to get that out of your crappy GT!! Wait till you see what my SS can do! ::Gets in car, drives off to the staging lane. Runs a 13.5@111mph:: MD: Nice run. If you hadn't smoked the tires through 1st you probably could have done better though.......... What's the point in saying "I saw this guy on YouTube that ran a 12.8 in a bone stock SS" if you can't PERSONALLY drive it to a 12.8? I'd like to see averages, because like most people out there I'm an average driver. If bolt ons get the average drivers to mid 12's, then that's what I want to see. Sorry, I'm ranting and thread jacking... Can't wait to see what you run stock!!!

Heck, 111 is probably enough for high 11's...I ran 12.3x on 106.8mph with 1.74 60'.

I think everyone is missing the point. cai or no cai ,tune or no tune, He was on stock tires. All that slipping the clutch will go out the window on a good set of drag radials. Hit about 5500 and sidestep the clutch like someone is shooting at you and I guarantee this car will run those times anyway. Then add the mods and your dang right she will get into the 11s

I think people freak out about the times because they forget that the majority of the STOCK ls-1 f-bods do not average hi 12's (sort of like how the fish gets bigger each time the story is told). I've been to the track plenty of times and there are plenty of mid 13 ls-1 f-bods out there (just look at forum posts from back in the day). The mph is the best indicator and the mph is definitely there for mid 12's with a sticky track & solid launch. Biggest limiter stock is torque management. Just getting rid of that in a tune will be a huge benefit to launching better. TM limits the e-throttle during launch and after gear changes. Made a huge diff on my '05 GTO and '06 TBSS. Image how the ls-1's would have run w/very aggressive TM. They're nice cars, but just like the jumps from TPI - LT1 - LS1, they'll be faster and the times will keep coming in faster as more people drive them. As more 12's come in and the engines break in, I'm looking forward to the 1st 11 sec pass on a bolt on car w/tires. When magazines are running 13.0 passes, you know these things are gonna fly.
I wonder who's gonna be 1st the throw some airbags in the coils to really hook up (like the newer GTO's). Last edited by m1tankr; 05-25-2009 at 11:25 PM. |

Don't worry about LMR going backwards if you know what I mean. I left work early last Friday and stopped by to get an idea of what they are all about and from what I saw was distracting? in the sense that they had some really crazy stuff. Sorry, no pics just b/c it is out of respect for those guys and their customers.
I ran 11.79 while coasting from half track. Does that count? Car weighed 3850.

12.58 with a CAI and tune on stock tires is awesome! I will be certain not to sleep on the next Camaro SS I see.
