What exactly could cause paint bubbling? Sorry, I don't really know much about this. If there was one way that I could describe what it looks and feels like it would be what it says in the "What is dry Paint?" section of this link (http://www.drbeasleys.com/blog/2011/...dry-car-paint/). Again, it called my attention because I had never come across anything like it.

That is not a factory defect. The dealer may cover it to keep you happy.

The "spider webbing" they are talking about shouldn’t be lifting up like yours is, it would be a larger pattern and if it was coming off, would be like chips, not grit or dust particles as yours appears to be.

The bubbling that is on this car is why we are saying that it appears to be a corrosive cause effect.

Now all this is from us looking at a picture, not in real life, there is some limitations to diagnosis through Kodak as they say. It possibly could be the bad paint, its just an observasion that I personally think the dealer/GM is going to make that its not them.

They have turned on thier corporate cost effective switch, and one of the quickest short term (stress to the short term) money cost cutting options is to not do any repairs they can get out of. After all, why should they worry about a customer who has already purchased a long term product from them? All you need worry about is this quarter. So what if they are mad 2,3 or even 10 years from now?

Thanks for all of the info. I'm still going to the dealer tomorrow to see if they will fix it, but from the looks of things that probably will not be the case. As a student, tuition hikes are killing me and I could really do without car repair bills as well.

I'm worried that if the dealer doesn't fix it, the paint will suffer further damage while I save up money to have it fixed. Even though it bothers the hell out of me, I could live with it looking like that...at least for now lol. Do you think the paint around it slowly start deteriorating as well?

My GF's Honda Accord did the same thing on the hood of her car but smaller, bird crap caused it but looks identical to your problem.

Left to bake on love bug juice will do that. I know a guy here locally who bought a rental Camaro that was never washed well. The paint is GONE in perfect outlines of the lovebug splatter on the roof, mirrors, hood and front fascia. He needs a total repaint.

When you wash you may get the bug off but, if you look close as you know you can see a clear fluid stain on the paint. If you don't get that off it will eat right through to the metal or plastic.

Maybe so; without really knowing what happened, hard to tell

Do you have an acquaintance that does paint work? Saw a car at a show once that had band-aids airbrushed on a couple spots that he had rock chipping problems. Kinda funny, and it protected the metal

Sorry dude, there's no way that will be covered under warranty. As I said before, something acidic etched into the paint(love bugs, bird droppings, etc..).

I'm a car detailer, so my car is always protected from the elements. A wax, sealant, or coating definitely helps from scenarios like this!

if they dont, get some paper, sand it and touch it up if you cant afford to get it painted. Wont look amazing but you do not, I repeat louder, DO NOT want rust to get a foothold into the metal......it will spread like wildfire under the paint around it in no time.

before you hack away at it, call your insurance, probably considered comp coverage, should not affect rates.

Sorry if that avatar is YOUR Camaro man. lol. It's a pretty generic pic so I bet there's 2-4 people here with that same pic. Think this is the 5th or 6th time I've heard about the avatar that I've been using for like the last 6 months. Hopefully I don't get any copiers when I place a pic of my car in my Avatar with people claiming it's theirs and I stole it. Sometimes I wonder.
