I had an '89 Camaro show car and lived in Ohio where you need a front plate but there was no way in hell I was putting one on! My opinion is just leave it off, dont f'up your bumper, if you get pulled over then just pay the 40-50 bucks OR if you get pulled over just say you had to order the correct bracket and it didnt come in yet.......I used that one a ton back in the day. No way would I ever drill my front bumper for something so useless!

if you get the manual license plate holder from swift, what do you do if the cop pulls you over? run out, pull it out, and say "what are you talking about cop? its right there!" ? And if you get the motorized, what wires do you connect?

ummm no, you pull the plate out before you go for a drive, once you get to where your going like a car function you can put it back in......personally if your not going far you can leave it in but, if your gonna take a long drive you can pull it out

Live in Cali. Always had a front plate on my truck till I had to remove the lower plastic part of my number because some girl jack it up when she pulled out in front of me. My chevy got a dent her ford focus got crushed. Anyways I havnt had a front plate in 4 months and havnt been pulled over yet. So I hope the same goes when I get a camaro. Also my mother had dealer plates on her mini for two years and never got pulled over. (i dont recommend this) she thought it made her car always look brand new. She finally got her personalized plates and still only put it on the rear. Still no tickets and the same goes for my dads prius. So I wouldn't worry about the fronts till or if u ever get a ticket.

I'm on this list too, don't want holes in my bumper. Don't have my Camaro yet but would love to see someone with the Swift bracket or the motorized one on the new Camaro to see how it looks.

I am lucky to live in a state with no front plate requirement. For the 18 years I lived and drove in CA I only got pulled over once for it. I was driving my 69 and was about 17. The CHP wrote me up for everything he could think of. He even claimed my blinker, blinked too fast. A hole.

Even if I go back to CA I will not use a front plate. I like the double sided tape option if it needs to be signed off on or inspected. Other than that just pay the fine every 10 years or so.

Not sure any of you went to Swift to see the manual one too? It actually looks pretty simple, assuming there is a good place to attach this to, with a quick pull out and then an easy fold and slide back process. It is only about $60 and has free shipping. It's not as cool as the motorized one but if we are only buying it to display it and tell the officer we forgot to pull it out...well then instead of paying 50 bucks for a ticket just buy one of these things. If I buy one and can find a good place to mount it I will take some pics and send it out.

I live in Cincinnati and refuse to put the front plate on any of my vehicles. As someone said earlier, the metermaids are usually the ones writing the ticket for that. We're fortunte that IN and KY don't require fronts so the cops would have to have their head on swivel 75% of the time to see if it was IN, KY or OH.

To solve that problem, I throw the plate on the dash when I park in the City of Cincinnati. The ticket is for failure to display. Can't write you a ticket if it is displayed on the dash right in front of their eyes when the try to place the ticket underneath the windshield wiper.

No ugly ass bracket for my SS.

As more and more states begin adopting "red-light cameras" and/or "speed cams" at intersections and highways, there will be more states going to the front plate (it definitely helps in identifying violators in the pics/video)...so enjoy your time with no front plates...they coming.

Angry

we told our dealer NOT to drill holes and put the plate on, however, it was already done when we picked up the car and you "can't un-ring that bell"...actually, it doesn't look quite as bad as i expected...the bracket is V-shaped to match the contour of the front bumper...i guess i'm just trying to accept what can't be changed.........at least i won't get a ticket...they are starting to install "red light cameras" on Long Island now to catch offenders, so i know they will be extra vigilant about front license plates when that happens...

I am putting front plates on the pass side of the bumper like the first year non steel bumper, 1978. I don't need the fog lamps.

Well i'll try and make a frame but if it looks like podo i'll just use normal factory center.

But that should be perfectly legal for the front display.

Might be a way to make a frame that uses the lamp hole to fit and fasten.
