OK so GM has had to give itself away to the Government and the UAW just to stay alive.... That sucks but I understand.
Tell me this....... How does GM get it back???? Now I love those men and women up there building or camaros, but i see a problem coming. Just like the CEO's that make 20+ times more than their employees, because they are greedy. Whats to say that given this extra power, the UAW isnt going to, eventually, try to get so much more than it actually needs, that it ends up pushing all manufacturing outside the US. That goes back to those other CEOs, they had a product that cost $200 to make, and the sold it for $2000. They paid their workers barely anything and kept all that extra income for their own profit. They then got greedy, and outsourced their labor to another country so it only costs $75 to make, and they started selling it for $2500. All the while, keeping all that extra money for themselves. Now I know it didnt happen just like I described, but thats the Barney Style.... SO, whats to say that UAW wont end up f*cking itself over by asking for more than it REALLY needs? The greedy CEOs will just move on to somewhere else. As you may recall, under this restructuring plan, GM has already said that the amount of GM vehicles built outside the US will DOUBLE..... SO, its already happening. |

Just ask the folks that went thorugh it at NW Airlines liked having the union cut them off at the knees, and then being taken over by a non-union based airline on top of it. Now I am far short of a union fan, but to see the retirees get sold down the river just plain pi55es me off. LabRat |

You can thank your Legislators for that one! Any idiot would have put conditions on those Bailout Bucks. Oh, say like, if you want the 20 BILLION you agree to close down all offshore plants BEFORE you lay off even ONE US WORKER. LabRat |

Yeah, I understand what you are saying, BUT........
Why did the Government step in and say that THEY HAD TO PROTECT THE AUTO INDUSTRY??????? If my memory serves me correct, it was solely to protect the American Auto Worker, ..... NOT the Foreign Auto Buyer. SO, How does bailing out these companies, for the American worker, actually work correctly when it closes down American plants, and Opens Chinese, Mexican, and wherever else, plants??? |

Gm gets it back by buying back stock slowly but surely. But technically GM was owned or is owned by the public because it is on the stock market, but we all know that doesnt mean jack. If GM gets back on it feet, they can just do a hostile take over like what happened to Budweiser. But even if they can buy a lot back from the UAW, they will never get it all.
