Hammerhead 12 bolt installed, testing being done !!!!!!

6.29.2012:
The first of the Hammerhead 12 bolt diffs was installed and completed yesterday. Its been a longer road than most wanted but the end result is worth the wait. Thomas Hendrix (Street Slayer clutch guy) and his good friend Jolly took the time to put the diff in, supply all the need dimensions for both the axles and the driveshaft and provided us with all the info needed to get the job done. it was a success.

Here is Jeff and Skip Lee holding the the 1st Hammerhead 12 bolt after being machined and internals installed

This Hammerhead diff was set up with the 35 Spline Wavetrac (supplied by Moser engineering) a 3-1/2" Aluminum CV Driveshaft (we believe with the space provided we may be able to get a 4" aluminum shaft so critical speed will be higher) and of coarse the DSS 30 spline axles (same axles that Mark Carlyle's Vette ran a 7.22 @ 209mph this past week) so no need for over sized heavy parts.

Here is the Hendrix car in my garage on ramps checking last night to make sure everything was correct, looked great

We went out for a ride on the back country roads of NC near my house and it was a blast, testing the car but not being able to really hit is hard because the rear was still being broken in. Did a few blasts up over 100 with out a single objectionable sound, in fact the car felt stock (well as stock as a 700Hp car can feel)

ok, on to the pictures

Sorry for all the burnt rubber under the car in all the pictures, he did take the 9" out to test it. He is not easy on the car as you can tell.

Over the next few days we will have some better shots and more importantly the results from taking the 9" kit out and seeing if there is any truth to the 12 bolt having less Parasitic loss and gaining Hp with just a diff change.

Being the stub outputs are higher than the 9" (even though our 9" kit is as high as we can get it) the angle on the axles is allot less even on his very low car. (again sorry for all that burnt rubber)

The Driveshaft was only .250 shorter than the Stock shafts we make with the steel flange so we will be making a front plate for the trans .250 longer for you guys that either want to move up to the 12 bolt slowly by buying our axles and shaft 1st or for you lucky guys that have already purchased DSS products and are ready for the Hammerhead 12 bolt. it will be a nice and easy transition.

over the next little while we will be giving you all the Data collected we will have all the info you would want to know about this amazing piece, it will include HP gains when the Dyno testing is done, info on the axle angles (this will include all manufacturers angles) we will have info on clearance for the larger driveshafts in both aluminum and Carbon fiber along with interior DB differences from the 9" to the 12 bolt and more.......

now that we know what has to be done it will take a little to proceed with the final machining and assembly but its a reality and now for away for you guys that have been patiently waiting.

Awesome! It's on the list as soon as final package is available. Nice work. Looks like the wait will be worth it.

This is great guys, I'm one who isn't in a big rush unlike a lot of you guys. I do my major work on my car during our nice long winters here in Michigan, so I'll be looking to get one of these 12 bolts say around Feb or March, I already have the level 5 axles and 1pc aluminum driveshaft so this is just great news to me. Keep up the good work guys!!!

Holy crap you could mold a new tire with all that rubber! No one can say he hasn't put that 9" to the test LOL

Do you know what day you guys are planning on Dynoing again? If I'm not working maybe I'll run down the road and watch him add to his collection of rubber.

And Frank, you certainly have a lot of bicycles!

Great news confirming these kits can be pieced together. Makes it much easier for me and I'm sure many others to piece this together than buy all at once.

Awesome work guys.

So cool! We're really excited to see it in the car, and it has been great working with Frank on this project. And also thanks to Tom for testing with your car. First car with the 9" IRS, and first with the HammerHead!
