Merengo?

After this weekend I think my wife would kill me if I went to another show.

Well...not ever. Plus, she may want to get out of the house tomorrow. Supposed to get together with Tim and his wife tomorrow though. Wonder if they want to go sweat in Merengo?

Anyone know of a good place in Waterloo (maybe Cedar Falls) in which I can get my exhaust put back on my 76. I don't want to drive it too far because of the alignment and because it will only be an open header system and I would like not to get a sound ordinance ticket.

It currently has true dual 3" mandrel bent exhaust back to 2 Flowmaster 40s. It just needs to be reconnected. I also need an alignment. I was looking at going to Boubin's off of San Marnan Rd here in Waterloo. Any other suggestions?

Got another email for this Thursday, July 5th. There is a Cruise in Night starting at 530pm. It is located at Casill Motors on 16th Ave in Cedar Rapids. It's where the old Autzone used to be. I guess Autozone moved across the street from where they used to be and there isn't enough room over there for this show, but Casill Motors is kind enough to let us continue with the show. Also, they have a guy who grills out there for those who want a burger or hot dog or whatever.

Had a GREAT time in Marengo yesterday with Grinch, Brian, and Jeremy.

There was some stiff competition with the vehicles there, but Grinch, Brian, and I managed Top 50's again with over 137 cars in attendance.

The last 2 pics are of Ken's(a Viet Nam Vet) 2011 LS and of Jeremy's 2011 2SS/RS.

After Marengo, Grinch and Brian headed home and I headed over to Belle Plaine to meet up Quackersacker.

What was an OUSTANDING show last year, was completely gutted and torn apart this year.

There were 107 cars in attendance and instead of having different classes and participant voting like last year and like it said on their website foir this year, it was a Top 50 and judged show.

The only late model that got ANY love was from THYS Motor Group(one of the event sponsors). It was a 2013 Dodge Dart, NOT owned or sold to anyone yet. I even yelled out, "There's AT LEAST 50 other cars owned by people that are better!!" The announcer's reply was, "Well. I'm not a judge."

The closest things to a late model that got any love were a 2005 Harley Davidson and a 1987 Grand National.

Nick did get a Top 50 for his '69 Camaro so at least one of our friends got some love.

It was 90% "locals" who got the love. Quackersacker and I both agreed that since I took 1st last year in '84 to Present and a lot of the "locals" got shut out was the reason for the change.

Even a kid asked the announcer what about the later model cars. The announcer's reply was, "Kid, they don't make any good cars these days."

Wasn't too hard to figure out after that the 2012 Cobra and our Camaros were going to get bent over a barrel and shown some tough love.

Quackersacker and I won't be attending Belle Plaine anymore. I'd recommend the same for everyone else too. Especially since our cars aren't any good, we wouldn't want to risk driving them on the highway.
