What's the Hurst Short Throw shifter?

Does it make shifting easier/quicker. Please explain the point of the Hurst Short Throw. Thanks.

it is a shorter shifter, which allows you to shift faster. The OEM Hurst shifter option decreases throw by 22%. The aftermarket Hurst shifter decreases throw by 44%

It makes it easier and quicker because the shifts between gears are shorter, it sits lower overall is what it does.

Imagine a lever, it's farther at the top of it then half way down to move back and forth.

The factory short throw I believe is 22% shorter than stock and the aftermarket ones range from 30-50%.
