AutoToys vs. DoubleDMods

I was in the market for a new Kenwood head unit and stumbled on a great price at AutoToys. Made the order on May 25th. When I got no product, or tracking or emails after 2 1/2 weeks, I went ahead and emailed them. There response was that they "hoped" to ship my unit in 48-72 hours but that was contingent on Kenwood getting stock. So, I emailed them and asked why they dont list parts if they are special order and not stocked there? I did not get much of a reply other then that they were a real shop and have a 100 install videos on their site. I really could care less about this and I am sick of all these drop ship companies trying to act like a real store with inventory when in fact they have to order everything and have no real time inventory. Waste of my time. I cancelled the order and I would not recommend doing business with this company unless you call or email first to get real info if they can send the parts. The bad thing is that if they would have emailed me on order day and said, "...there is a delay on your part and it will for sure ship on XXX day" then I could decide, yes i can wait, or no cancel ASAP and move on to another vendor. The fact that they never updated me on the status of my order until I emailed them is very bad customer service IMO.

Now, who I should have gone with in the First place (yeah lesson learned!) is with Dennis at DoubleDMods, a vendor here at C5. He took my order on a Sunday night at 10 PM, he PM'ed me that he had 18 units in stock (YES a real store!) and he had this shipped out the next day. I received tracking right away. Great guy to talk to and was polite and helpful on the phone. I highly recommend this company for your auto stereo needs. Good job Dennis keep up the good work at DoubleD and your help in the forum!

The Scosche kit sure turned out awesome in the real carbon as well!
