Tinted Window laws

I got pulled over last week for doing nothing, when I asked the cop why did he pull me over he said your tint is too dark. I waited for the other cop to come with the meter, while he came with the meter he also came with the crew filming Cops...So with them now with this big camera and mic in my face they go checking my tint. Allowable limit in Va is 50% they said mine read 44% and he gave me a ticket and checked my concealed weapon. After all said and done he still gave me a ticket. I called the tint place who gauranteed me it was legal, after telling them what happened they said he shouldn't have written me a ticket, In Va there is a 7% tolerance for the meter and gave me the website for the laws and it was there...So all my fellow tinted window drivers do your homework and I can't wait to go to court. Pulled over for just tint.

The reason for the difference is because all auto glass (maybe all glass period) is slightly tinted. I think normal auto glass is between 3-7%. So, if you put 50% tint on your windows it will read lower on the meter. That's the reason there is a 7% forgiveness on the meters. You would have to use 60% for the meter to read 50%+. At that point you can't even see its tinted. Lol

Doubt a tint ticket will make the show. Not with the crime rate in Va beach.

after all that, you should have asked the guys with the camera and cop if you could, on purpose, act like a total *ss to the cop and start mouthing off. Just to make sure you would be on the show, even to be cuffed and car searched while bitching at the cop. Maybe even asked if they had a 'wife-beater' shirt you could wear.

Kansas is 35%. Whereabouts are you moving? If you're going to be around the Wichita area i know an awesome club that would love to add another enthusiast.

so this cop has a camera crew with him and he decides to pull u over and ticket you because of window tint which only turns out to be 6% over the limit?? all the crimes he could be looking for and he decides window tint would be a good one for the show?? i would imagine the police in that area or any area they work in can estimate if a window is darker than others around that area by looking at it. it's not like your windows are a noticeable amount over by looking at them with the naked eye.

maybe he just used that excuse to look at your car but that doesn't explain the ticket. are vehicles around there usually seen with that amount of tint or did you just go for the max?? if it's not usually seen, maybe that's why he pulled you over to check to see if it was legal.
