I would be pretty upset but do realize things happen. It sucks being the person with the problems. The key is having a good dealer and a good mechanic. They can both take care of you and get things squared away.

Demand new drivetrain. Good friend of mine currently going through a similar scenerio with his 12 F250 Pickup, the number 8 cylinder let go, the dealership wants to replace only the shortblock but he is pushing for complete engine replacement, it's no easy task as Ford is not caving thus far. At this point his truck is sitting at the dealer awaiting the outcome. Needless to say he isn't happy and told the dealer yesterday he wants a new engine or they keep the truck and he hires a lawyer.

Good catch CAM ZL1 on the wire bundle.. In the aircraft industry, we called that condition "chaffing" and in this case, it not only can cause system failures but worse yet a fire caused by shorted hot wires to ground. Chevy should at least look into their production line to make sure that this is just an isolated case.
Like to make one note about the engine compartment wire bundle routing, I've noticed at least on my car, there are many areas of "chaffing condition" which was corrected with adding teflon tape to mitigate the condition. I think they can do a better job. But with all that being said, I still loooooove my ZL1!! |

I just checked on Camaro5, that came out 7/10/12, it said that at least the MY 13 ZL1's are excluded from the 60 day return. All the other Camaro's are included. It doesn't state anything about the 12's.:(

No big deal. Trust me I wish it wasn't so and they were built in Wixom.

Thank you for the heads up. It is good to have advance info like this so we can check ours out before damage occurs. Thank you very much again!
And, you may want to check the Master Cylinder vacuum lines that run to the intake under the engine cover. I found my hose was being chaffed buy the engine cover and did my own mod to fix it. Here was my original post on that issue FYI. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...76&postcount=1 |
