All this crap about what cost more or less and losing warranty is getting really old and detracting from the OP's awesome numbers and post. Can we all just get along and be nice?

If you still wanted to know here are the part numbers for the pistons from the 2011 GMPP book(seems to still be current):

LSA -12625119
LS3 -19168089

And just FYI
LS9 -19180414
Thanks!!! That's what I was hoping for.

This goes to show LSA doesn't share the same pistons as LS3. These hyper' pistons do not have the same properties as LS3 pistons. People still thinking LSA is just a SC'd LS3 and crucifying LSA because it doesn't have forged pistons might do better seeing that it is a specific piston for the job at hand. It's still not a forged slug, but it's definately built to be rugged for LSA power.

After seeing the post I think you might be talking about, and looking at the avatar, it was clear where that person was coming from

GM really dropped the ball on horsepower they had too of gotten wind that ford was coming out with a 640 hp mustang and they come up short by 100 hp and let outside companies like slp hennesy etc etc beat them too the punch. I love my camaro but they have been three steps behind ford in this race. Why isnt there a z28 out too compete with the boss 302 also I guess two years from now we will see that

There is a 1LE out to compete with the Boss 302. It's out now. Probably not as good, but at least they are finally offering something close!

The biggest reason the Camaro ZL1 doesn't have 630+ HP is because it would dethrone the ZR1, which no mfg would do to themselves. Remember, Ford does not even make a sports car anymore so they can shoot for the moon HP wise as the won't cannabilize their own sales of higher profit margin vehicles. It's called a Mustang GT for a reason - it's a grand touring car w/ race parts on it - just like a camaro. 4 seats, big engine up front, lots of power out the back. It's been a winning combo for years and were are all still in a pissing match over who is better. Gotta love it!!!

I think it would be worth considering a dealer-installed 2300 from ZR1 to bump power. You probably wouldn't have to increase boost much over the stock rating by virture of the larger displacement, but I wouldn't expect 620-horse because of LS9's unique camshaft.

My point was I don't think a 630-horse ZL1 can encroach in ZR1 OR Z06 because of weight and chassis differences.

I agree........ even if the ZL1 had more HP, I don't think it would match the ZR1 in performance. If its just a numbers thing .... ie ZL1 has more HP than ZR1....... than are we any better than the Ford boys waving the bigger is better flag?

The ZL1 would need more then 630hp to beat the ZR1. The ZR1 is lighter; nice try

Its time to stop using the price as the determining factor anymore. The price is the same once all is considered.

99 percent of all Z or GT500 owners wont track their cars anyways. It will be for highway challenges (not that I condone it) or dragstrip runs, or redlight takeoffs. So practically speaking the GT is faster 99 percent of the time out of the box for a cheaper price.
