I love the 5th gen and will have one but I will not be like many on this board who bash and look down on those who own other generations or mustangs. I have always been in crowds where there was playful smack talk but always respectful. I guess I will have to get use to the snob attitude that will come with many 5th gen owners. Having one won't make me this way. It disappoints me having been in the muscle car world so long.

I have 2,100 miles on my 1 SS, L99. I agree with everything that 9c1ny reported on his 2 SS. This car is amazing! I took it to Buffalo last weekend to see my daughter which is about a 400 mile round trip for us. We got 25 mpg on the I-90 with the cruise set at 71 mph. The wife loves how comfortable the Camaro is. We still cannot get over the looks and attention this car gets. Ours is the SIM w/ Black Rally Stripes. The car is really quick but it is so quiet and smooth that you do not have the sensation of speed until you look at the speedometer. I don’t know if it will run low 13’s or not but it pulls really great as the rpm’s increase. Shift is crisp at full throttle runs. At cruising speed it is very hard to know when you are in 4 cylinder mode. Around town and at low cruising speed you do notice some hunting but you really have to feel for it. From a dead stop when I punch it the tires are hard to break loose even with the traction control off. The car just digs in and takes off. You don’t win races smoking the tires anyway. The engine is sounding better as I get more miles on the car. It really sounds good when you get into it.
I love everything about the car and again agree that this looks to be the best generation Camaro ever built. My only fault with the car is the moisture in the reverse light lens that I will have the dealer fix when I go in for service. I am so sorry that many of you don’t have your car yet. I feel guilty driving it around knowing that there are so many out there waiting for their Camaro.

35thLESS, he's just really excited to drive the car. I'm sure no offense was intended. "Exuberance."

It's a good thing.

Considering he has had seven (7) 4th gens, I think there is no doubt he likes them. But as was stated, after only 70 miles of driving, he is communicating that he really likes the 5th gen. Nothing wrong with that.

The funniest thing about this thread is that now we're going to see a bunch of Camaro pictures with blue arms hanging out of the open driver window, with complete circulatory interruption, because there was an implied challenge in the original post. I say, "Keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times". I'm 6'1" and if I tried to drive with my arm out the window, I'd look like I was trying to ask a question...

Hey 9C1NY - great to hear that you like your Camaro -- We hope you'll be as proud to own and drive it as we were to design, engineer, and build it for you!

Two things:

Boston Accoustics -- wasn't real impressed with the one in "Thor" until a friend went in and did some 'adjustments' to the tuning -- and WOW.....

The Active Fuel Management will get better as you drive the car -- the computer, I believe, 'learns' as you drive the car -- so it won't be as noticeable...... On some cars, it's almost undetectible other than the 'sound'..

I hope you'll have many miles of smiles -- better known as "perma-grin!"

thanks for the response and mostly thank you for your hand in this great vehicle!

To be fair I havent messed around with the stereo yet, it probably will sound much better once I have some free time to read the instructions and adjust it

good to know on the AFM, I just wish it would stop raining so I can drive it more!

exactly and it was directed at alot of the 5th gen bashing going on at Ls1tech

I still love 4th gens, just no where near as much anymore

how's the exhaust sound? I haven't seen a 5th gen up close yet, still none delivered to my dealer. I was wondering if I should straight pipe it right away

about as loud as a stock 4th gen, it sounds good when you get on it and pretty quiet at idle

I love this quote because so far the only hating I've gotten has been from 4th gen owners that are pissed because they don't have the biggest dog on the block anymore and people won't give their cars a second look when a 5th gen rolls up. I've owned a few 4th gens. Mostly LT1's and some LS1 owners are some of the most cocky, arrogant and smug people out there. No offense to anyone but I kinda enjoy sending it back their way. I still love the cars, but I enjoy it none the less.
