Correct, the ZL1 is clearly the better daily driver, and the GT500 is clearly the faster more fun car to drive while going fast around all types of Race tracks in the direct comparisons. Erik

ONCE AGAIN a thread on a CAMARO forum is wrecked by FORD enthusiasts. Way to go mods. Just keep letting your own front porch get crapped on over and over again.

Let's see, in every direct comparison so far, the ZL1 has been given the nod at the twisty tracks. The GT500 pulled a faster SINGLE lap then had major brake fade (to address one Ford guy above), and could never duplicate or even come close to that lap. The ZL1 was consistent and fast throughout. And, it was also on a relatively smooth track.

I want to see head to head at something like Nurburgring...where the LRA will just kill the Mustang.

I'll give the Shelby a nod at the better engine and faster 1/4 mile times... definitely good car for that.

2013 GT500 Brake Fade = Stock ZL1 runs 11's all day.
Both over exaggerated.

Key thought there.

Reasons and explanations don't matter once you can say that.

It is a shame. But to be honest, it seems like the intent of the post was to incite people around here, which it did.

Why? All cars have issues, even the ZL1. Buying a car based on magazine reviews is for people who want the latest and greatest, who then move on to the next magazine favored car in a few years.

The couple faster track times it's posted are mostly by tenths, despite 80+ more horse' and a couple hundred pounds less weight. Don't hate because there are more comments that ZL1 is closer to a sports car and actually elevating the segment higher than that imp.

I agree with you about elevating the segment, demanding more from the car, that's good for competition.

What I'm not particularly fond of is the "despite 80 horse only a few truths victory" part. Prior to the release of the numbers on the gt500 it'd lose everything. Then, it was painfully obvious that ford would never get their live axle 662 hp gt500 to run anywhere remotely close to the zl1 with it's vastly superior suspension.

Now that it's nearly equal, and in some places better on a road course, the mood has tuned to justifying the zl1s defeat by saying it's not large enough to be impressive considering the power advantage.

I say good buy. Either way you're winning for buying a beast of a car; be it a track or drag strip.
