Like Steeler, I also got the SOLO system for the convertible right after they released it. I'm incredibly happy with the quality of the sound. Just be aware, though, that the volume of this system isn't loud enough if you're the kind of guy who wants people to hear you a block away at an idle cruise. Now if you're accelerating, they'll hear ya.

I have Borla Atak cat-back installed on my 2011 2ss/rs. I love it! Deep rumble, sounds vicious, but still not destroying your ears driving with the top down.
But itīs a personal preferance, and definately try to listen to them in person if you have the chance.

One question to all you guys that have installed an aftermarket exhaust; Underneath the car thereīs like a big, fat metal plate that kept giving me trouble fitting the exhaust. Full throttle and on bumpy roads the exhaust moved too much causing it to hit that plate. If I tightened it the exhaust hit the nuts and bolts above it. So I decided to take that plate off since it didnīt really do anything (I can bend it with my hands). My exhaust was said to fit the convertible, and according to my mechanic it also look different than an exhaust for a coupe would, it was a smoother fit than a standard one. So, after this looong elaboration, what did you guys do with that plate? Did you have any problems at all?

There's been other threads on here about folks having a problem fitting aftermarket exhausts on the verts. I assume you're talking about the stiffening plates and braces under the vert? They actually do a great deal in minimizing body flex during cornering and rough roads. Without them, over time you may find that your doors don't quite close right, or body panels don't line up correctly. In most cases, your problem can be fixed easily by loosening all connections and hangers on the exhaust, then bracing it in a position that provides the most clearance. While braced, tighten all the connections and attach the hangers. I've installed 5 or 6 systems in Camaros using this method, and never had an alignment problem on any brand (Solo, SLP, Borla, Flowmaster).
Many folks install a system one section at a time, and tighten each one down as they go. A small mis-alignment in each causes a big over-correction by the time you line up the chrome tip in the valance. It's amazing how the twist of one section of pipe by 2 or 3 degrees can create all the clearance you need further down the exhaust!
If all else fails, there are aftermarket body stiffeners you can buy. Some will even allow for 3" pipes on the convertible...

The SOLO Exhaust for the convertible is made specifically for the convertible and allows for all the cross braces to be installed.

I don’t think I would run without the cross braces those do the same thing the cross brace on top of the shock tower does keeps your frame from twisting due to the lack of roof. (at least that is the way I understand)

I received my Solo cat back exhaust today. Whats the best way to install myself. Is jacking the car up enough to work and drop on the exhaust? Would car ramps work better. Any thoughts from you guys would help. Thanks

I didn't go through the hassle and paid my neighborhood auto mechanic to install. Came out great and no regret!

I put the front up on ramps, then jacked the back and installed jack stands. It gives you plenty of room to get the exhaust in. Take the time to remove the two cross braces first. Then the OEM system drops out easily.

You'll love the Solo system. Best mod I've done to the car!
