LoL,,,,, OldScool......Good luck with any "Regional Rep" helping you on this type of issue.. The car is what ??? 2 weeks old,,,,,,, There should be Zero issues with getting anything New or Anything Replaced to the "Customers" "Satisfaction"..... Seriously, this is a $60,000 car and any problems shoud be addressed without hesitation, especially when folks have a very, very high expectation of this car...

As for the situation on the GM Corporate end, I went forward with reaching out to some people in GM with the power to force through these sorts of issues. I approached all of these communications, along with all of my updates here, in the most professional and level headed state that I think I could have.

I have been offered a buyback on my 2012 ZL1, with an immediate replacement 2013 ZL1 to be ordered within a few days. I was informed my 2013 re-order will be expedited in terms of production (Sorry for anyone who I cut in front of). When the 2012 is repaired, I will be able to drive it until the 2013 replacement vehicle is delivered to the dealership.

I thank everyone who has followed this issue and either put forward possible causes for the leak, I did forward the information to the service tech, and also those who wished me luck on the situation. Hearing from the GM Engineer who contacted the dealership two days ago, this situation seems to be an isolated casting defect which I hope only affected #1526. I will keep updating the situation as I think some people are interested in the process.
Congratulations in your patience, perseverance and diligence in handling this situation and in getting the offer for the buyback. I'm sure the silver lining will be when you receive the '13 and that it will bring back that Ultragrin permanently on your face. Kudos for KCCO (Keeping Cool, Chivin' on)

Well, I can understand your frustration, and I feel for you, but it is common practice and well documented before here on this board by people wiser than I that replacement engines are out of the norm. They will do as much as it takes to repair the existing engine as supplied in the car as necessary. If it is still an issue beyond that point, customer service and a regional rep needs to be brought in. I'm not drinking koolaid, or hypnotised by rhetoric.

I dont own a ZL1, I own a 2012 SS but ive been following this thread and I am glad to see that GM stepped up to the plate. No doubt that this forum has something to do with that. After spending that much money a customer should be expected to be treated well.

CAM ZL1, Congrats on the satisfactory resolution to your problem. As I have explained in previous posts, as long as you keep fighting with GM on this they will give in as they will not risk you getting this car for free in the event of litigation. I have seen similar situations get resolved this way while I was working at a Chevy dealership. Also, I applaud your patience and level head in this entire situation. Kudos to you.

And to 01pewterZ28...hate to say I told you so but I told you so. I have seen and dealt with this same situation before and I know what I was talking about, but I do understand where you were coming from.

Main thing is the problem got resolved with a new Z

I'm reporting this thread to the moderators.

Frankly I think this thread is bullshit, especially this post.

It's bullshit because............

It should be a sticky about how to handle business with GM in a very professional manner, and to get a fair result for a terrible problem. It should almost be required reading for anybody who has a problem with any new car!

I don't know CAM ZL1, nor will I ever meet him..........however I have nothing but the deepest respect for this MAN!

This is how you do business!

What a wonderful resolution! I am not surprised GM and the Chevy folks did this. Congrats to OP and GM. This news made my day!

Wow, I'm glad (and a bit surprised) GM offered you a new car. Seems like they were reluctant to help at first. Maybe this thread was more bad publicity than they could handle?

CAM ZL1, Enjoy your 2012 then your 2013!

Part of me want's to give props to GM for the resolution, but another part of me just says that GM did what any good company should have done.
