I thought CA was similar to AZ, where you don't have to go through emissions till the vehicle is 5 years old. And even after the 5 years all they do is check for codes on the ECU and check the gas cap.

5 years yes, ECU as of 2013, however if you sell the vehicle it has to be resmogged on a typical schedule.

Its for a bmw E30 gonna be a track car so I need to register it. I dont have a trailer so I would have to drive it to the track.

Maybe the guy will be blind and you can use cutouts to eliminate most of the smog for the sniffer test

SMOG and CARB are the biggest scams ever anyways. I swear, if our collective minds decided one day that we will NOT SMOG our cars anymore, WTF are they going to do? Ticket millions of people?

No they just wont register your car and you wont have tags and then yes you will get pulled over

Yep......only giving the state more $$$$. Decide to still not pay? Once expired beyond 6 months, your car can be towed from anywhere (public accessed parking lots, street, etc.) except private property (private driveway). Now you must STILL pay your fine before your car can be released, plus late fees and towing fees......$$$$. As much as I hate it, the state will get it's money.

Not the best idea....
