There you go, now put that converter in your car and make it go. You want to select a converter with a true stall of about 500 rpm below peak torque for maximum performance.

This car was built for the road course even with the auto. GM hammered it for 24 hours straight on a road course to prove it so go race that sucker and have fun with the tap-shifting. A better aftermarket torque converter would certainly be a good decision though.

Yeah...and that makes for one very annoying daily driver and pisses off everyone around you leaving a stop light.

So basically it would take about 140-145rwhp For me to trap 10mph higher right? So why is it taking the op about 100 more rwhp to do it. That's my whole point. Doesn't add up. Dyno must be off or the shop who did his work fluked the #'s.
122mph trap speed isn't slow by any means, just taking 600rwhp isn't right. Maybe he had three adult passengers when he made that pass? That would make sense then.

Yeah, you're right. I just wanted to state what my car does. At just over 600 I was up around 128. I think, I don't remember but that seems right. You can trap 122 with 500 rwhp.

Well he just posted that with him in the car it weighs 4400lbs. Mine weighed 4060lbs with me in it. So now I'm seeing why. If his weighed what mine does it would have trapped roughly 125-126....so now we are getting somewhere. Still a little off but not so much now.

This is the reason. The higher the speed the more the power requirement exponentially grows to overcome the weight. The ZL1 isn't trapping too bad compared to cars that are much lighter. Its a testament to how well the 1900 is working. Go use any online hp calculator and start playing with the numbers and you'll see that the faster you want to go the far greater power requirement. You will actually reach a point where it will take an additional 100hp just to gain a few mph. Trapping 122mph in a 4400lb car at 600rwhp calculates out to be correct.

I've never used an online "calculator" that was correct. What would you say my car makes rwhp wise?

They will get you "close" according to mechanics. They're just like a dyno...a tool to help get a baseline or an "idea" of where you should be. They of course can't take into consideration for aerodynamics and drive train losses but the math for mechanics is what it is and that is a known constant. The calcs I ran showed that he needed to be making 615hp for those times so it was fairly close.
