2013 2SS Mode Exhaust Bypass at Idle - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I just read that the ZL1 dual mode exhaust is open at idle. My 2013 2SS seems to be the same. It has a really throaty rumble at idle and when you take off. It thens quiets down at about 2K RPM and then definitely opens up again at 3K RPM. Can anyone confirm that this is the way it works and it is in bypass at idle and low RPMs?

GM had a ZL1 on Power Tour, and I was talking to them one morning when they came out of the hotel.
He stated the car, and wow did it ever sound good. I asked what they had done, and he said it was factory stock.

What you describe, is exactly how he explained it to me. The sound test they have to pass is a "drive by" at low speed.
So, the car does indeed have a louder idle sound.

Yea, that's how it works. If you look in the outboard exhaust nozzles you can see the butterfly valve. It is open at idle, but I believe it closes close to 1000 RPM. It opens up again somewhere in the 3 - 4 K range (I believe). I'd like to see a video of someone who records when they close and open again.

I'll get right on that...

Thanks for the responses. By the sound I think it closes closer to 2,000 and then open right at 3,000 with you foot into it a little.

Do a google search on Mild 2 Wild. There is a neat little gadget that you can get that will make it throaty at all RPMs. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting this soon after I get my 13.
