Finally... another ray of hope... as you all know; I'm kinda on my last option before vetting rid of the car altogether...I've been given a series of dates and a promise of a "newly designed" top stack... well, those dates have come and gone, but a glimmer of hope remained as I've seen somenposts recently corroborating some of the promises made...

After a particularly stressful week past, of missed deadlines, no returned calls etc; I received a call with some good news today. The top stack was released to production last month and my dealer received an order confirmation number today. A bit of a back order (big surprise) but it is Allegedly a new part with a new part number versus the "old" replacement tops. And this is listed as the "top mechanism" so I'm assuming its the complete rail system etc like id requested. They said to expect it to arrive next week.... another date to stress over, but once again, a glimmer of hope!

Will keep you posted

I hope you can maybe find out the part number and post if possible. It seems to be like pulling teeth to get info in Canada...

Wish you the VERY best! Keep us updated...

I'm supposed to drop my car off on Friday for a new top to be installed. Brandon from GM Customer Service got involved and things have started to move more quickly.

This thread title ALWAYS takes me by surprise...

My new Top Only replacement parts have been on order for I think eight weeks now. The initial delay was explained as new part numbers... time for my weekly call to the dealer.

Drago, if/when you can get part numbers please let us know. My dealer is standing by to pursue a new top mechanism for my baby too!

Hope you get yours fixed perfectly!

Will do Tib.

I've been quiet lately cuz there's been soooooo many "fixed... oh crap, not fixed" stories, I didn't wanna Jump the gun. As you can all see, this was originally set in motion in February...not the quickest moving event in history, but hopefully coming to a resolution soon.

As with all "good" info I get... I'll post as many details as possible once I confirm.

For the record also, Sux's 3rd fix (the spacers) while it didn't completely eliminate the problem, did help significantly. Been using it since May. No adverse effects and cut the marks down by about 70%. For those w factory tops that don't want the drama of a replacement and mild marks- this should work for you!

After my water bag was replaced my GM district manager suspects official communication later this year to customers with suspect vehicles. He specifically stated it is his own personal speculation and not fact, but that is what he said. Mine is fixed leak wise but I am still waiting for my new top and mechanism that is supposedly going to be ordered next week.

So here's what I've learned today:

Despite request and recommendations from my service manager; GM will NOT replace my entire top mechanism as verbally agreed during the BBB meeting. Instead; they are providing the "Retro fit" top replacement, water management system and carpeting for my car; in addition to an extended warranty to cover these items. (However, duration had not been disclosed)

All necessary parts are on hand at my service shop along with the (no exaggeration) 35 page installation manual... I know Sycraft Already posted the written portion which didn't look all that bad... but when you add pictures... 35 pages!

My regional cust service supervisor has dispatched the GM tech to do the install. I'm hoping its the same one as last October; when, although they weren't able to fix the rub marks; they did correct all the other problems created by the previous dealerships. Just need to coordinate dates.

I was explained this new design is also being retrofitted into all existing GM verts until the stock is depleted and they change over to the new design completely. There is no eta on that, however speculation was the end of 2012/beginning of 2013.

Fingers crossed again...

As I understand it (through my sources) there is no longer a mechanism and top available (like the pic that was posted up a few months ago). You could only order parts for the frame work if necessary. The retro fit is the only thing available now

Bulllet- that's what I was told also. My service manager tried ordering an entire top frame, motor.etc
..but was denied.

Surgery begins Monday...
