I was kinda in the same situation. ZL1 # 251 is somewhere in transit but I also love the 2013 - 427 vert vette...... I don't plan on selling my 2010 Camaro and I wasn't convenced that I wanted 2 Camaro's in the garage but when I looked closer at the vette the base 1SA model was right at 78k and the 1SC model is upwards of 90k that steered me towards going thru with the ZL1 purchase.

I can't see having a convertible vette as my only car...hate to call a ZL1 more "practical" but in this comparison I think it is.

I'd have to go for the Vette.. Even though I wouldn't get a convertible Z06.

The MSRP for the 2013 427 Corvette Convertible varies by trim level as follows:
$77,750 for the 1SA trim level $83,750 for the 1SB trim level $87,250 for the 1SC trim level Additional options, such as optional wheels, and Heritage or Anniversary packages, and Carbon Fiber package, etc., are, of course, extra.

I just saw my first 427 convertable vett. It was a black vett, with ZR-1 rims chrome, listed at $84,599. I was in getting my first oil change on my ZL-1. Just love the car so far but I have never driven a vett before.

My wife and I actually considered a vett either Z06 or ZR1 but just felt to be too confined for us and to low to the ground. I dunno the ZL1 just bring's me closer to the two cars I really enjoyed in my younger years (77 trans am and 87 grand national).
See if your dealer will let you take a vette on a demo ride and see how it feels to you. But I have to say in my opinion the ZL1 has alot going for it in it's price range.

Personally, I'd stick with the ZL1, unless you REALLY wanted a collectible vehicle. I'm just not a Corvette kinda guy, especially for the 80-90K.

I dropped my ZL1 convertible order and ordered a 427 convertible instead. I should be picking it up at the Corvette Museum late next month or early Sep. With the discounts being given on the 427 Vette, I couldn't pass it up. I got over $9K off MSRP and no doc fees. I opted for the 1SB package, chrome ZR1 wheels, crystal red paint, ebony interior and black top. I passed on the heritage package because all you get for your 1000 bucks are hood stripes and floor mats with the 427 logo. I can get the mats for $140 and I don't like stripes. With options and before FL sales tax, my car is $77100. MSRP is $86460.

What's the diff between 1SB and 1SA? The Chevy site doesn't say as far as I can tell. I may have to go for it... |

1SA is the base package. You don't get the power top, NAV, tilt/tele, heated seats and some other stuff that I'd have to look up. PM me if you want the dealer info.

If this is going to be your pleasure vehicle I would get the 427. If its your DD than get the ZL1. I can imagine that having a Vette as a DD is a pain in the ass.

Its tough to compare the two cars. If you have the money for the Vette and dont need a back seat at all I would have to choose the Vette. A good portion of my Camaro customers have kids rendering the Camaro a better choice for the weekends and family cruising. They are both fantastic cars but its tough to compare them head to head as they are different.

Were it me, I'd go for the ZL1. Don't get me wrong, I took a ride in one of the new 427 corvettes. Damn it was sweet!
But for the price, give me a ZL1 and 15-20k in cash to spend, if you get what I'm saying. The 427 corvette is badass, but it's still not the top of the corvette food chain. The ZL1 however is up there, for a stock car at least. My dad was having the same exact dilemma. He wanted one of the two. He liked the Camaro looks a little better, not to mention the cheaper price tag, and he'll be ordering a ZL1 here soon I hope! Stick with your ordered ZL1. I can guarantee you it'll turn more heads than a 427 'vette. Also, you'll be another ZL1 owner in GA, which is reason enough to get the ZL1! (ok maybe I'm just saying that cause I want you to get a ZL1 )

I don't have kids and my dogs ride in our SUV, so practicality isn't part of the formula. I'll see if I can drive a 427 and let everyone know what I think. I know the Camaro will be fun. I have some doubts about the Corvette. |
