Roll Bar/Cage
I'm looking to a roll bar/cage for the convertible for autocross and road course driving. Anyone have any recommendations?
This is my daily driver and I have kids that ride in the back so I need to have the back seat usable. thanks guys

Does the vert have the suspension for that? or did you change it out?
I would go to a shop and look into having it custome made... |

Yes, I have the Hotchkis Track Pack. And yes I think I may have to go custom.

Unlike many Verts that soften the suspension to help reduce the perception of cowl shake and body flex, like for instance the Mustang. The Camaro convertible uses the same suspension as the coupe.

Craig at Angelwingstech.com is currently working on a total bolt in track bar for the convertibles. He goes by Boltvette on the forums and his email is
craig@angelwingstech.com Spoke with him at our local track days and hope to start initial fabrication work up in August. |

Did you say road course Trish?! Does that mean you are going to get in on the Angelwings Tech Pony Car Series? I could use some backup. Good luck with the search.

From GM website: FE4 Suspension With a focus on refined handling, the FE4 package — exclusive to the Camaro SS coupe — provides more effective body control and more precise response in performance driving situations But regarless I woudl replace the suspention before starting off road personally and the OP did. |

Is there any rules for autocross roll bars? I know for drag racing your have to have a non removable cross bar in the hoop and that makes the rear seats EXTREMLY dangerous to use.

I guess it depends what your comparing.... In 2011 when the convertible was released the coupe was still rolling on the FE3 suspension. Allowing gm to make claims like “Our goal in development was to make the convertible match the coupe as closely as possible in ride quality, handling and overall performance,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. The result is a Camaro Convertible that keeps acceleration, handling and other performance capabilities very close to that of the Camaro Coupe. “To compensate for the reduced structure of an open car, engineers often will make the suspension softer, making the convertible a boulevard cruiser,” said Oppenheiser. “Instead, we took the more difficult, but better path of bolstering structure rather than softening the suspension. We didn’t change a strut, bushing or spring rate from the Camaro coupe.” All that said I don't think the FE3 to FE4 upgrades would "wow" anyone like a properly dialed in Pedders, Pfadt etc. setup. |

The FE4 package is a definite step forward, but you're right. From a seat of the pants feel an aftermarket performance suspension package will typically yield more impressive results!
