Trifecta Tune : Must Read

So i know everyone is always asking about the legitimacy of the "transparency mode" the tune has to offer. Well here is my story.

Somehow managed to blow the engine, it completely locked up and wouldnt turn over. Luckily was making noise before hand so i took it to my guy at Bad News Racing, Jerry, and he tuned it back to stock. After one week of looking it over, and me completely on edge , they were unable to read that it was tuned and have already put the order in the for the 7,000.00 engine. THANK GOD.

Just hope that sums up the fear about the transparency mode feature.

NICE!!! I don't feel so bad now! Is there a way to test to see if GM Techs could see if it already has the tune without having to revert to stock? Maybe something for Vince test.

Doesn't the TCM record the amount of flashes? I was looking into a tune but decided against it after finding out that

OP I was getting my oil changes done at the dealer. I still had about 1400 miles left to go before an oil change.

My motor spun a bearing and my dipstick showed absolutely nothing on it. I went to Walmart and bought a 5 qt container of Mobil1 and I forget exactly how much I ended up adding but it was like 3 1/2 or 4 1/2 Qts or something like that.

These motors can eat the oil so maybe whoever did your oil change DID put in the right amount.

Anyway my car was tuned with LT's CB VMax TB, CAI and I drove/limped my car into the dealer tune and all and they honored my warranty. They never asked, and I never told.

They asked me if it was tuned, obviously i replied no. Yeah apparently maybe they do eat oil. How often should i be checking the oil? I had a few hundred miles left before warranty as well.

Interesting how many people post about having a tune and worried about GM detecting that they due. GM people read these posts too.

It is a very simple check - all GM needs due is look at the number of "key strokes" to know your car has been tuned. Pretty much every OBDII reader will show this info. How many cars have xx,xxx miles on them and have only been started a few dozen times....
