Maggie Pulley Swap

Question for the techinal experts... I have a maggie with LT, CAI and no cats on an auto. Tuned it safe and landed on 490 rwhp. I have read the charts on boost change per pulley change and have recently changed from the stock 3.8 to a 3.4 which is claimed to give me 10psi of boost @ WOT. My question is staying safe on my tune how much hp gain could I expect to see from the pulley change? Then I added the alky meth injection. How much hp gain could I expect to see from that mod staying safe on the tune but tuning for the meth?

On 93 with meth, a 3.4 pulley and 10 psi my car made 545/550 to the wheels. We were tuning for the meth then. Run race gas if you want to push the car. It's not wise to use the meth for fuel.

SuperchargedSS are you saying 545/550 is a safe number or did you back it down after the dyno? If so how much of that was from the meth?

It was safe. I wasn't worried about the internals or any of that. We didn't back it down. It went 10.99 at 125 and I drove it all over the place. I don't know how much HP was from meth but later on the meth quit and I lost the engine. Use race gas.

I am tuned on the safe side and with the 3.4 and meth only @ 527 hp. I believe the meth is mostly being used to lower my IAt's and not get aggressive on the tune. A/F is around 11:1. It is a daily driver. What do you mean "use race fuel"?

If you want to get more aggressive you can fill the car with race gas and run more timing. I have a pump gad tune and a race gas tune. Just don't beat the car without the race gas in it.

when you use meth on a centri, you are cooling the already boosted and inter-cooled air. on the maggie you are spraying before the air is compressed and cooled by the water/heat exchanger, so the iat's are not lowered nearly as much as a centri would see. as most tuners of pd blowers will agree, the biggest limiting factor for making consistant power is the heat :(

now, add a cam to your L99 and you will see the rwhp increase

just curious, was it tuned based off of iat's? timing wise?

I believe the meth was brought in on boost. So, as you already know, it had timing thrown at it when the meth was brought it. A better meth kit and it would have lived.

In reference to post #8 if lowering IAT's is the limiting factor between centri and maggie would installing a Super Chiller help? I am not ready to spend the money on a cam now I am looking into having a Stall convertor and cooler installed.

It would probably help. You would then need to think of maybe converting to an 8 rib drive setup

I have the 1:1 rear cog with 3.4 front pulley, LT headers no cats, CAI with the meth. Plan to install the Jannetty supper tensioner. If I also installed the super chiller to lower IAT's would it be possible to get 550 hp and still be safe on tune? I have a ZL1 fuel pump and currently tuned around 11:1 A/F WOT.
