I ordered my Camaro yesterday. I was wondering will the dealer get an order number on tuesday or do you get the alpha order # when they have allocation.

They will get an order number as soon as they enter it into Workbench.

I ordered mine on a saturday and I did not receive it until wednesday. I'm assuming something with Tuesdays being the day the orders are put into the system has something to do with it.

Some dealers allow salesman to put in orders, some only have one person that does it, some just do it on certain days of the week. It's up to the dealer. Don't go nuts if you don't get a number immediately but I would ask them how they place their orders before walking out the door and when you can expect to get that number from them. Then if you don't have the number by the promised time, follow up with them.

That being said, I watched my salesman put the order in and he printed it out right then and there for me.

Doesn't the dealer need an 'allocation' to be able to put in your order? I was at a dealer this w/end and they said they had orders (he showed me customer folders) just waiting for allocations from G.M. In other words you could order a Camaro today and it would sit on the salesmans desk for weeks if no allocations were recieved from G.M.

I ordered mine on May 7th (a Thursday), they tried for a couple of days to input my order in the system (GM site kept kicking them out) ... finally on May 9th (a Saturday) at 8:30 pm, my salesman called to give me my number.

My order # is STILL at 1100 however, even tho when I called CS last week, they said it had been produced, which it hadn't.

Who knows how all this works. I give up trying to figure it all out! I'm just gonna site back & dream about my car & one day.... maybe Aug or Sept it'll be here.

When I ordered it was a Friday (May 8th) and I had my order number the next morning. Now after 3 weeks Im at 3000 with a TPW of June 29th according to GM customer service. Every time I have called them they have given me correct information.

You should get a order # right away. It just wont move past 1100 until they have and use their allocation.
