For the same reasons Pete discusses we decided to go to the most densely populated part of the country. If you consider Camaros sold per square mile. The northeast quadrant has sold more Camaro's than the rest of the country combined...

But that doesn't mean we are going to stay there either. The rest of Pete's argument is also valid. Accessibility. We can't forget that Camaro5 is not a regional forum... We can't forget about our Brothers and Sisters to the north who have as much passion for the Camaro as we do. Nor, should we limit the event to the same side of the country.

The problem with the south is we can't hold it in the summer. So that means less families can attend, and the massive following we have in the NE United States will have a long trip to try and manage during the school year.

Same goes for any fest we hold in the NE. Our massive southern following has to make a long trip. And there are so many major enthusiast shows in that part of the country during the summer that it's hard to find a date that works for the track, sponsors, and GM.

We are at a disadvantage in that we don't have a regular date for the fest... The trade off is we go to a different track and a different part of the county each year making sure as many people as possible get a chance to attend a Fest. But the complications and extra work that causes us may mean we have to settle in on a two track rotation?

The bad part about changing locations is it's like C5F I all over again... We have to figure every thing out each time... how do we handle the autoX, Car show, how do we do all the administrative stuff. getting a new insurance policy each year in a new state. The cruise is always a NIGHTMARE and we never get to work with the same people twice. We get a little better each Fest but the next Fest always throws a curve ball at us that we didn't see.

And we don't have Moderators in every part of the country to visit tracks and who have the time to organize an event like this locally...

I know the members would be willing to help us but I also know that Tran will expect us to do the leg work which we are happy to do.

So having said AAAALLLLL that... We have a list of about 3 geographical areas, and maybe 5 or so tracks that we are starting to talk to.

And there is more than one state in the central united states.

I'm not trying to sway any one's opinions or give any hidden clues. I just want everyone to know that we really give this a lot of thought. We wasted a lot of time on Fest II trying to get Vegas... Thank God Phoenix was willing to work with us relatively last minute to get it together.

I wrote all this just to give you all a little insight as to what we think about when making this decision.

Please don't think we're asking for a pat on the back or any pity.

I can't begin to express to you that the best gratitude we can get from you guys is the looks on your faces and hearing the stories that you all tell...

Sooo........... what you're saying is you guys just don't close your eyes and point to a random location the map and then post on the forums that it is in X location and for everyone to be there on X date? Weird... looks like I've been wrong for years.

P.S. this Pete guy is a wise man, I support his posts. Seems to have some love affair with Texas

Bump.... Can't let this thread fall off the front page. That would highly upset GTATRAN!

I am going to say this though, & I have said it every year. I know you guys are trying to find locations.

When those of us in the nw asked how about out here we get NO, to far out, not a good enough track area or the weather

Dudes dont you guys know we have several 1/4 mile tracks here? with a new road track & a Major NHRA track (that along with that just got approval of a small city located on the track)

as for weather, hell we get nice summers out here. its been nice & cool here at 70 degrees most this week & we may not even hit 80s this week (oh by the way this weekend is NHRA Nationals)

But we also have alot of people who would come out here, you will get people from Alaska, Western Canada, Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Calif & NV all that would come here.

on top of that, you guys place it over the top of a major car show, 6k car show that& we get well over 50k people if not more hanging out checking out cars. I know you guys cant control large events but some of those events that have been going on for 30yrs should be a no go.

Camaro5Fest 2013

Any news on where Camaro5Fest 2013 will be held? Hoping it will be someplace closer to the West/Southwest. Realize I am about a year to late to the party when it was near me. If only I would have bought my Camaro a year early instead of the Mini Countryman.

Camaro5 fest 2012 hasn't even started yet! Moderators don't announce ANYTHING about the next fest until months after the previous one. And I'm 99% sure Camaro5 fest 4 won't be in the Southwest. Camaro5 fest 2 was there.

My vote would be anything west of the Mississippi. I'd love Texas or Wyoming, maybe even Colorado if anywhere but Denver.

But I know my vote would not count, and I will deal with the location chosen appropriately.
