$3,000 in incentives on the Mustangs vs $0 on the Camaro. That has a strong effect on sales. I'm surprised Ford has kept those incentives for so long this year. Sales will drop when the incentives go away. (once the 2012 inventory is depleted)

...true - plus one needs to look at the volume of Mustangs being put into Fleet (mostly rental) - it's sizeable.

It's not just incentives. MSRP mustang vs Camaro the mustang is cheaper for what you get. Invoice price compared to MSRP is also twice as much on the mustang giving dealers more room to negotiate. That makes the mustang $5-7K cheaper than a camaro before healthy incentives from the mustang. That's a good chunk of change if you are on a budget. Then you need to take into consideration that the mustang has been getting fantastic reviews from magazines.

I think the changes in the form of the coyote motor have really helped mustang sales even with a almost 10 year old design that is getting stale.

Hopefully the 1LE will perform well and get camaro sales up.

Wow that's strange. I built both cars on line and the Stang was always more, rather it be V6 or V8 . Was also more for comparable cars on the ford and Chevy lots,at least here in central Ohio .

Interesting to see the real numbers. I have read on many threads that lots of people see more stangs around than Camaro's. I guess it depends on where you live. Thanks for sharing!

What did you build? 2013 mustang GT + track pack vs 2013 1SS + 1LE = $3500 less for the mustang MSRP and that's MSRP. The 2013 also had HID standard. On the camaro it's a $1350 option.

Around where I live, I see more Camaros and Challengers than the current gen Mustangs. It's funny how many Challengers I see given the sales numbers.

I don't think it has that much to do with the incentives. They need to get rid if the '12s because they brought out the '13 so early. Be interesting to see the '12 vs '13 new sales. There's just enough change on the '13 that some folks (like me) would buy a new '12 instead because I don't like what they did. Same goes the other way... some folks like the '13 that much better that they'll forego the bigger reate on the '12. Rebates may make a difference to a handful of folks, but only the ones that are truly 'on the fence' and really don't care about styling. People that like the Mustang are gonna buy it... people that like the Camaro are gonna buy it. And of course, there are folks that won't even consider Ford, or won't consider Chevy.

And the fact that the novelty of the Camaro is finally wearing off, and people are realizing it is here to stay. I am actually quite shocked by the number of '13 Mustangs I've been seeing on the road.

Indeed. Although, I think all three (Challenger included) are fantastic cars. If we are to get "better" vehicles, I can't wait.

Any ragtop challenger you see is a result of the aftermarket. There are a few companies that do the conversion, so it's possible you did see one.
